Idea overwhelm can be a huge stumbling block for writers and their discovery drafts. Either you become paralyzed because you don’t know where to start or your story gets bogged down with so many unrelated ideas that make facing revisions feel unbearable. We get you!
The Build Your Romance exercise helps you practice focusing on the ideas that really matter to you with a given romance story. You will pick:
- 2 subgenres
- 1 genre style
- 1 monster
- 2 big tropes
- 3 micro tropes
- 1 misbelief for each character in the couple
This could be simply a fun activity to give you practice prioritizing or it might even be the start of your next story! Either way, we’d love to hear what you picked in the comments or in your repost! Remember, within boundaries there is freedom Have fun!!! 😁
