He blindly followed along with her, caught between nervousness at being so easily injured by glass and a bout of excitement that things had wound up changing so drastically in a life that had begun to get boring. After all, when you run the world's greatest crime syndicate, there wasn't much else left to do.
Once they got to the kitchen, he sat down on one of the chairs, still staring at his hand. Had Maze been here, she would've gone berserk, but he was merely looking on in fascination. As Chloe began to sift through his medicine cabinet, he gave in to intrusive thoughts and pressed the thumb of his uninjured hand down on the cut.
A sensation he recognized mutely as pain shot up his arm and caused him to flinch. "Ah! That hurts! That really hurts!" He cried, sounding a bit like a complaining child. "Bloody Hell, no wonder you humans whine about getting injured so much."
"Stop poking it!"
Chloe couldn't believe that she had to yell at him like she was yelling at her own child. For someone that ran an entire criminal empire, he was being the biggest child.
Bringing what she could find, she set the supplies down on the table before pulling a chair up in front of him. She held out her palm, silently requesting his wounded hand.
"You're acting like you've never been hurt before," Chloe remarked as she turned to break the seal of the alcohol pad. "I find it extremely hard to believe that you've worked your way up to be The Boss and you've never been hurt."
Lucifer's head snapped up to her on a reflex. It wasn't exactly common practice for anyone to have the stones to shout at him. Except, rather than a wilting glare with the powers of Hell behind it, his glance towards her was one more akin to a scolded child, still trying to save face by glaring stubbornly at her.
He reached over when she requested his hand, flinching slightly as she took it. Even in the past when he'd been rarely injured, he'd never bothered with cleaning and bandaging the cut. Hardly a point, since his wounds couldn't get infected and they'd heal on their own.
"Yes, well, it has less to do with being being that and more with me being the actual devil. Ow!" He yelped, jerking and banging his knee against the table when she began touching the cut. "I thought this was supposed to help with the cut, not make it worse."
"There is no angle," Amenadiel replied calmly. Exposing divinity to human was a danger and while Lucifer might not care about that, he did. Humans were too fragile to witness the true power of a normal angel, much less an archangel like his brother. It would tear their mind apart.
"That's not entirely true," Amenadiel said with a sigh. "He might not have hurt you, that's true, but that doesn't mean his record is spotless. Even when he doesn't mean to, people get hurt around him, whether directly by his hand or not. You know what I mean, don't you?"
He hadn't wanted to bring this up, but in preparation for this, he had dug into their past cases and found a few things.
"What about Jimmy Barnes? Or Nick Hofmeister and his protege Josh? He threw Ty Huntley's agent through plate glass," He recited off their first few cases together. "Look, he's my brother and I care about him. But you need to know who he truly is if you plan to continue working with him."
As she listened to Amenadiel prattle off the many people that Lucifer hurt, her mind kept falling back to the damage that this man had done to Lucifer.
"Lucifer is passionate about justice. He's been working on it."
She's not trying to make excuses, but they come out just the same. Lucifer, despite her earlier belief, had slowly started to change since working with her.
"And don't forget -- Jimmy Barnes shot me in front of Lucifer," Chloe reminded Amenadiel. In her mind, she flashed back to watching Lucifer being shot. "And I saw Lucifer get shot then, too." A pause. "Look. I'm just going to level with you -- I don't believe you. I don't know why you are telling me this nor do I really want to know now, but I know what I saw... what I heard that night with Malcolm. Lucifer wouldn't..."
Her head shook in disbelief that she would have to explain this to anyone.
"Lucifer wouldn't put Trixie and I in danger like that for a stunt. I heard him choking on blood. I don't know how he does it, but it isn't," she waves at Amenadiel's torso, "it isn't this."
Amenadiel sighed softly. Lucifer's passion was exactly what he was worried about. He could be so single-minded in things, that he failed to see the bigger picture. Like his rebellion. Like his decision to quit being the King of Hell and come to Earth. Though they were on the same side now, those dangers were still a factor.
All things considered, he wasn't getting through to Chloe here. That's fine. He had other option to assure she didn't test Lucifer's blood. He could just stop time and walk right into the station if he had to.
"I cannot control what you believe. I only ask that you are cautious. Whether or not Lucifer means well when it comes to you, he can still be rather naive and headstrong. He fails to think things through at the best of times and one day that may come back to haunt him."
Before he could continue speaking, Chloe's phone rang. It was the precinct telling her they had tracked down the dealer who supplied Amy Dodd with the drugs. He was at an NA meeting, of all things.
He grinned at her, flashing his teeth as he did so before placing a few kisses higher on her leg. He really should give her time to rest. Especially after their second time, where he hadn't been exactly gentle with her, but he couldn't get enough. Though it was impossible for him to actually get addicted to anything, he definitely felt like she could be the exception.
"Oh really?" He hummed. Another kiss. "Are you quite sure? Last night was rather rough." A kiss pressed a little higher. "Last thing I'd want to do is break you."
His hand climbed up her leg, resting on her hip where the bruises from his hands still gently marked her skin. He lightly traced over them gently testing to see how bad they were.
Carefully, she tugged the towel free of her body to expose her nude body to him once more. It was a strange thing to be so open with someone else in this way. Chloe had always veered to a more shy stance when it came to anything sexual, but here she was: so incredibly comfortable with Lucifer.
It was easy being with him. It felt right. Though, she knew -- deep down -- that it would not last. He wasn't the type. They were from two different worlds. They were two very different people, yet she wanted to enjoy the ride with him. She wanted to enjoy these blossoming feelings of love and devotion for as long as she could before having to say goodbye to him and find a new life, new love. They weren't destined to be together, to be an old married couple that walked hand in hand through trials and tribulations.
"Maybe just a few things," she admitted. Last night was an experience. Especially in regards to their second coupling. "Nothing to 'damaging'," she rolled her eyes at her own terminology, "I don't think you could break me even if you wanted to. You've always been so good to me."
He took her in unabashedly when she removed the towel, eyes scanning over her form with an appreciative sort of worship to them. While they were here in Spain, he needed to assure she ate well, as the illness had left her a tad too thin to be healthy, but beyond that she was perfect. Every mole and mark, every piece of her.
In their made up world, the one they had crafted since setting foot on that boat, he played with the idea of this lasting forever. If he was not who he was, if he was just an ordinary man, perhaps it could happen. Here, in their fantasy, he let himself believe it was possible. He visualized their lives together, growing old and just being with one another. The idea appealed to him more than he'd ever admit out loud.
"You're so certain," He hummed. "But do you truly know the things you do to me? The ways you drive me mad?" He leaned forward, gently coaxing her legs apart a little further. "Do you know the things I wish to do to you?" Without waiting for a response, he moved forward and buried his face between her thighs, drinking her in like a man possessed as he lavished her core with wanton abandon.
"Ah, something is always going on!" Lucifer diverted, rolling onto his back and gesturing towards the ceiling. "It's what always happens. It's what you humans do! It's literally the only thing you do, apart from dying. Tragic, that."
He was rambling in order to divert answering her question and avoid lying. It wouldn't work, and deep down he knew that but he wasn't exactly in his right mind at the moment.
He craned his neck to look up at her when she sat on the edge of the bed and, despite his rough appearance, when next he spoke, his tone was genuine. "You're beautiful, you know that?"
Chloe kicked off her shoes as she moved to lay back on the bed. She turned to him. Eyes never left his disheveled appearance as she took in his words.
There was a faint smile when he offered up the compliment, but Chloe Decker knew exactly what he was doing. He was avoiding the question. Something was up with him. She just didn't know what it was.
"I'm really tired, Lucifer," she admitted. Trixie had been sent home for another incident at school with another bully. All the stresses with being a single mom had seemed to pile up on her today, but she wouldn't reveal that to him. Not when he was like this. This moment wasn't about her.
"I just need to know that you're okay and you're not planning on doing something stupid tonight."
"You do tired very beautifully then," He continued, running a hand down the side of his face, which only made him look more exhausted. "And if you're tired, than you should sleep."
Ironic, him saying that when he looked like he hadn't slept in days. He'd been up to some less-than-legal things to keep himself going, but it seemed to have finally caught up to him. He didn't think he could leave this bed, even if he had wanted to.
"Define stupid," He said, turning to his side. He inched his way over to her and looked as though he were about the propose something suggestive and salacious, as was his usual go-to. But instead, he just sort of flopped into her lap, his arms winding around her middle as his cheek nuzzled against her legs. "The temptation is there, though. I assure you."

Lucifer's brow furrowed as he stared at his palm. He hadn't even noticed the glass cutting his hand. Because why would he have? He couldn't be injured by something as mundane as glass.
Yet, apparently, he could.
"No, I..." He stammered, barely hearing her over the racing thoughts inside his own head. "This shouldn't be possible. I don't bleed."
He felt the pain, something that had become unfamiliar to him. He hadn't felt true pain since the Fall, when he had been up against similarly powered celestial individuals. He shouldn't be hurt now from this.
He looked to Chloe, dark eyes heavy with confusion. "What's happening to me?"
There was no way of Chloe ever being able to understand why he was so surprised. Maybe he'd gotten so high up in his crime syndicate that he had started to truly believe that he was untouchable to any harm, even the mundane cuts and bruises from every day life.
"Come on," she offered, her words softly given as she directed him inside his home. "We'll wash it off in the sink and I can look to see if it needs stitches."
She hoped it wasn't too deep. She could only imagine the type of paperwork she would have to do on writing up why she had taken a crime lord to the hospital with such superficial cuts. They'd certainly question why she had stayed with him the entire time if it came to that.
"These things happen -- once, Trix fell off of mom's porch and had to get stitches on her leg," she stopped at the kitchen sink and let the water from the faucet pour for a moment. "Let's hope it didn't cut too deep for that -- I don't think you'd like being sat waiting in a hospital room for too long."

Amenadiel was a decent liar, all things considered. But Chloe was also a damn good detective, a fact Lucifer knew all too well, but Amenadiel did not.
"Listen, what you have to understand is that my brother and I had a very difficult childhood. And to deal with it, he created this persona for himself… Lucifer Morningstar, the Devil, incorrigible and invincible," He recited off, practiced and composed. "Chloe, he means well, but in the end, the only person he ever truly lies to is himself."
"I still don't understand your angle."
Maybe this isn't the script she's meant to stick to that he's created in his head. Did he really think she'd just believe him without any questions? She's a detective. While she knew that something was up with Lucifer, there was something about how adamant Amenadiel was to paint his brother as a liar.
Something smelled fishy. She knew Lucifer never lied. He held things back, but never lied, and she knew that he often tried to convince himself of things that may run perpendicular to the truth. But why did Amenadiel care about her relationship with his brother? Why was he sticking his nose into the business of two other people?
"Why do you care so much about my partnership with your brother? He hasn't hurt me or anyone else."

"Depends on the gambler," Lucifer said with a smirk. "I, for one, have always enjoyed the twists and turns of this life. Stagnation is so dreadfully boring. Perhaps it is time for a change after all."
Already, ideas were forming in his head for when they returned to London. But for now, this topic didn't exactly mesh with with the romantic and relaxed getaway, so to distract her, he began placing little kisses on the skin of her thighs.
She offered a smile as he spoke. He was so optimistic about everything. Never had she seen Lucifer worried or stressed -- minus when she'd been stricken with illness and had teetered on the edge of death.
Her smile grew when he placed soft kisses up the length of her thigh. Without shame or care, Chloe slightly parted her legs. She may feel a touch stiff and achy, but not enough to deny any pleasures that Lucifer may want to place upon her body.

Chloe believed that she knew Lucifer pretty well by now. He only acted like this when something was wrong -- and something was wrong here. His appearance was hardly ever altered as it was now.

Those associated with the Grand One Above always makes her nervous. Sure, there was a God but there were plenty of gods to go alongside. Feng Wu just had enough sense to keep herself the hell out of the way of it all.

A sharp intake of breath, she eyes him, “you know…” fuck. She has to offer to help right? She can’t just walk away? Being a deity of healers and being a healer was a responsibility that came naturally to her, but also one she couldn’t forego just because she didn’t want to get dragged into drama.
“You sure you good? I can help…” Feng Wu makes the assumption he knows what she is, in a similar vein she can feel the celestial radiating off him like a fucking nuke. “Do I need to be worried about you being here, I was having a really nice time…and I’d like it to stay that way.”
The tall, dark-haired man would cut quite the image alone. He was dressed smartly in a properly tailored suit, his hair styled back into a neat coif and puffing lazily on the cigarette between his fingers. In the light of the evening, his piercing eyes appeared almost black. To anyone of a lower stature than the Celestial, they'd be able to feel an invisible draw to him, like a magnetic force.
Yes, Lucifer Morningstar was quite the looker. However, the thing that stood out the most at the present time was the five-foot long piece of steel rebar punctured straight through his left shoulder.
The Devil hardly seemed bothered with it.
Taking another drag, the tip of the cigarette briefly glowing, he said, "Come to think of it, it's in quite the awkward position." He said, glancing down at the piece of metal as though it were an annoying stain. He glanced up again at her question, tilting his head curiously.
"Of course. Nice times are what I do," He said, smiling with his teeth. "Well, apart from that whole rebellion thing. However, I don't believe we've been formally introduced. Lucifer...Morningstar. And you are?"

"Oh, sleep. What a funny thing that is," Lucifer said, almost immediately diverting the topic of conversation away from his haggard appearance and the bags under his eyes. "Did you know there are some people who have brilliant ideas just in the moment before they fall asleep? It's usually gone when they wake up, which is just so unfair, don't you think?"
His dark eyes never left her face as they spoke. His touch was feather-light against her leg, nowhere near enough to distract her from her thoughts forming into words, but enough that it offered his presence to her. He was completely at attention to her.
His head tilted in curiosity when she admitted that. He knew what she meant, obviously, as he was no stranger to the seedier side. His curiosity more came from the fact that her and women of her status would truly have no other place to go should that happen to them. It didn't seem very fair.
"Hmm," Lucifer hummed in thought, letting her words sink in for a few moments. "There are movements, aren't there? Women back in London who fight for women to be able to vote. I've seen a few of them, but they always appear so small. I imagine they're afraid of what might happen to them should they make too much of a fuss."
"Or it may embarrass their husbands or fathers," Chloe countered. There were a great number of reasons why women hadn't taken to the street in large numbers. Reputation was still everything for both man and woman. "Reputations are still on the line back home."
She knew Lucifer didn't truly care about his reputation when it came to certain things, but it could affect any future business dealings. Her mind was going into protective mode. He may want to try his hand at it, but she didn't want him to lose out on any opportunities in the future.
"What would a gambler say? Would he roll the dice on a chance that people will hear or let the cards fall when they will?"

"Oh..." He breathed, staring in muted curiosity at his hand, as if he couldn't quite believe it belonged to him.
At his gentle "oh", Chloe's attention had been fully caught. While she may not have been injured, Lucifer had been by the sight of the blood seeping from his palm.
"Here. Let me clean it for you," she said, motherly mode activated as she took hold of his wrist. Blood had never been a bother to her. She'd seen it countless times on the job, monthly in her personal life, and she had a daughter that could, at times, be extremely accident prone.
"Do you have any bandages in the bathroom," she asked, fully unaware of any angelic invulnerability he possessed. In her mind, it was just a cut in a sensitive area. "Cuts in this area can take time to heal. I'll have to bandage it with some gauze and put some padding in there to help stop some of the bending."

"Because you needed to know," Amenadiel said. It was through no fault of his own that he thought Chloe was believing him. Had it been Lucifer doing this ruse, he would've known instantly that she wasn't convinced. But Amenadiel didn't know Chloe like Lucifer did.
"This is what Lucifer was wearing wore when you confronted Malcolm. I put it on him myself," He continued to lie, not knowing it was a lost cause. "Listen, everything he does is part of a performance."
Had Lucifer been in the room, he would've rolled his eyes at his brother. First off, because it was obvious Chloe didn't believe the story. And second off, because he wouldn't be caught dead wearing something as inelegant as a bulletproof vest. Chloe knew that. She had frisked him at the piano soon after he walked away from Jimmy Barnes shooting at him and he walked away without a scratch.
"Hmmm..."
If Lucifer were here, Chloe knew he'd be beyond delighted to see how she wasn't falling for this. She'd seen far too much that night. Amenadiel didn't know what he was talking about. While she may not be certain if Lucifer were really the Devil or not, something had happened that night that she couldn't truly explain. She wanted answers, but that was not the right one.
"That was the second time I've seen him survive gun shots," Chloe revealed.
But now, she wanted to know the truth of all of this. There had to be some sort of angle to this.
