(do note: i am not particularly religious and my intent is not to offend anyone with what i say, i just enjoy questioning things and making hypotheticals)

the idea of living/having sentience being hell

i think it would go to how animals dont (seemingly) dwell on the future or past but humans do and god did not want that to happen (Isaiah 43:18, Matthew 6:34, and a couple other verses if i remember correctly.)

humans were made to be a able to think about the future and past in more deeper ways but being able to do that paired with guilt, anxiety, the general societal pressures of living, and many other negative emotions makes the ability to think more like a burden, especially when people are stuck in their own mind overthinking.

humans are, by nature, social beings, so wouldnt hell also be each other? because of how much we hurt each other in ways animals cant. the way a person can intentionally break another person emotionally and so deeply.

it makes me wonder if god, who is apparently so merciful, would really send someone to hell after living? for example: would a "vicious" dog be sent to hell even though there is reasoning for the dog to act in such manner (self defense, fear, or maybe the way it was taught to go through the world) and could that grace possibly go for humans aswell?

especially because not everyone has the opportunity or even privilege to go to therapy and get help or support and they die without a chance at a good life. would it be fair for people to go to hell after living?

some people are given such unfortunate starts at life and they learn to be "horrible people" when thats what keeps them safe. peoples behaviours are rooted from somewhere because, realistically, we are all products of our environments (also mental illness or even how peoples brains are wired at a fundamental level.)
