He rolled his eyes at that some, returning his attention to the memorial monument, listening nevertheless. The idea that it was fate and not himself that got out of that situation left a bad taste in his mouth.
"The Avengers did not send me to the RAFT, Your Majesty," he responded simply. "Your guards did. They did not send me somewhere sunless, where isolation was their primary means of incarceration. They did not send me to the depths of the ocean. The Avengers made their mistakes, but the RAFT is one they've already suffered and would not make the mistake of leaving anyone else there knowingly."
He turned away from the monument entirely, watching T'Challa intently. "Explain this freedom." He glanced around briefly. T'Challa was more than capable of dealing with him himself, of course, but the absence of the Dora Milaje was notable. "This is quite a liberty you've already provided allowing me to be here, but we both know that I am not 'free'."

So, this was definitely news to him, and to hear it from the other made him wholly confused on just who to really believe. This whole time, while other affairs and situations were going on, he thought the person that had ended his father's life and so many others was imprisoned by other 'superheroes'. Now, things were really more complicated than he had originally thought. Seeds of doubt were beginning to take root, and he took in a breath to try and focus on the current set of possibilities.
"...." T'Challa took a few moments to listen to him some more, and his gaze shifted away a little from the man. "I was told by my closest advisors that it was the Avengers who put you there. There seems to be much I will need to re-evaluate." He gestured around, and looked at the other again, once his mind was clear enough to focus.
"As for this, may I ask you what would you consider being 'free' is? You could have ran, hidden from us. Removed that tracker, and gone away. Now, please correct me if I am wrong to assume this, but do you have a desire for that freedom? Most would have been trying to fight for their lives by now... Aggression in the face of going back to that confinement." Even now, he knew that this conversation wouldn't be happening, if the other had reacted like such.
