Hi everyone!

I am getting top surgery (finally) pretty soon! Next month, actually. I thought I could just put myself in more debt and get a care credit card to pay for it but, unfortunately, my credit seems to be too fucked for that. So I'm here to ask for help!

I created a GoFundMe to help raise some money for my surgery and I am saving every penny of my paychecks that I possibly can. If you want to donate I greatly appreciate it! And if you can't/don't want to that's okay too! It would be super cool if you could share this though!

Salmonberry pictures (Rubus spectabilis)

A couple of Dunn's Salamanders out on a late night stroll.

These little guys live in humid forests, hiding under rocks or logs during the day.

These guys are lungless, meaning oxygen passes through their skin from the moisture in the environment. (Frogs do this too but have lungs.) This means they must stay in permanently moist areas, usually near flowing water. Unless it is the rainy season. During that time, salamanders can wonder further away from bodies of water/other moist areas. 🦎💧

Ensatinas (Ensatina eschscholtzii oregonensis)

A couple of Ensatinas on the move now that spring has come. These guys are cool because they are lungless and change color as they mature.

The picture on the top is the juvenile coloration, black with white speckles. When they reach adulthood, they are purple with orange sides/armpits.

- It's cluttered with AI regurgitation. (This is particularly infuriating to me. If anyone is interested, I could make a post about my thoughts.)

- Old sites are dead and gone.

- Reddit destroyed itself. (I can go on a rant about this too.)

- Too much marketing bullshit.

- Ads! Ads! Ads! Ads! Ads!

- Stupid paywalls.

- Search engines suck at getting you what you want. SEO is a cancer.

- People trying to make a quick buck. I don't mind paying for some things, I'm talking about the 0 effort get-rich-quick crap.

- Propaganda, psyops, scammers, etc.

See enshitification and dead internet theory.

It's hard to filter all this crap out! It's particularly worse for people with conditions like ADHD, Depression, Autism, etc.

It also makes it harder for me to do my job. Sometimes I need specific, slightly in depth information. Due to SEO, I get surface level AI regurgitated crap. Multiple websites, all the same. They also come with a torrent of adverts. It's a user hostile experience. (Maybe I could write my own, better search engine. One that might allow me to blacklist and greenlist certain websites for certain searches. Or one that detects AI generated content and filters. Actually, a browser extension that detects AI generated content might be pretty helpful.)

I think I've run into webpages that just have AI generated recipes. It's awful. I'm at the point where I just want to use physical cookbooks. Those also don't have a novel about some irrelevant backstory and 69,000,000 ads obscuring the recipe. (Now that I think of it, maybe it would be useful to write an app that can convert a physical recipe into a digital one ...)
