The Outskirts of Deep City

It took me a few broken up hours, but I did it. I mapped out the events of last night’s episode of Community.

Simply put, J. Roddy Walston and the Business is my favorite current band.  I’m sorry Band of Horses, but this is a simply what-have-you-done-for-me-lately situation.  A few months ago, I was lucky enough to see J. Roddy in a small downtown Raleigh venue.  It was pure rock n’ roll.  Each song is a fast-paced, short tune that makes your head instantly sway (or rock) up and down.  

Tonight, J. Roddy is coming back to the same venue and some of my friends and I are going to check them out again.  I wish that I could adequately describe how excited I am. I tried to explain it to Reckner the other night [b/c she doesn’t dig tunes like this].  I told her it would be like if Edward Cullen was the emcee at a Beyonce concert.  At first, her eyebrows moved doubtingly.  But then…  then she got it.

When I bought my ticket for this show tonight, I thought to myself, "Is there anything in the world that I'd rather spend just ten bucks on?"

The answer: "No."

Attending a J. Roddy concert is easily the most fun you can have for $10 this side of Tijuana.
