To start, let’s lay down the basis for this headcanon: it’s a well known fact that showing one’s chest fur in public is seen to be very rude and immodest.

Their chief attire, the budi, or shirt, is fastened in braids down the right side, not permitting any part of the torso fur to be seen, for such is believed to be highly indecorous.
