Reaching out to someone hadnât been easy for her, but the thoughts and memories had been picking at Minaâs mind all night. It was early, so early the sun had barely started to rise as she paced her small living room. Even before this all happened, she hadnât really been sleeping. Seeing what she had the weekend of the Seraphim party had left her shaken. To add her own brush with death to the mix, Mina could hardly recognize the person she had become.
The thoughts alerted her before she ever heard the knock on the door. Fully expecting Jeanne, she pulled the door open quickly, eyes lifting up to meet her friends. Color draining from her face, she took a step back before she could stop herself. It didnât make sense. Those thoughts, that mind clearly belonged to Jeanneâs but it was the King who stood before her. âY-Your Majesty?â she asked, brows furrowed as she gently tried to prod their mind.
Jeanne had been exhausted. So exhausted that after a long night of being the king sheâd simply collapsed into bed, forgetting about who she was. When sheâd gotten Minaâs text sheâd jumped out of bed, knowing the girl wasnât one to ask for help willy nilly. Jeanne wasnât one to make friends easily but she and Mina had instantly clicked. The girl seemed like a ray of light in an otherwise dark world and with all the chaos going on Jeanne needed all the light she could get.
She knocked on the door, seeing her hand and realizing just a moment too late that sheâd never changed back. Oops! At Minaâs words Jeanne instantly changed back, laughing. âIâm sorry! Did I scare you? I completely forgot I wasnât myself. One of the hazards of the job.â This rarely happened but when it did it always made of a memorable story.
