so we were talking a lot a few days ago about raffles in earls court. and tangentially one of my favourite illustrations is the one from Jubilee Present where theres damage to the original paper or to the microfiche or whatever so it has this horrible blot over his face, which is an incredibly cool accidental effect and i wanted to play with it so— this.

#crime and cricket #raffles fanart #aj raffles #its maybe a bit overwrought n edgy but listen i was having fun and i think it turned out cool fkdsfkdh #also infuritatinggg to draw two of my best maturin!raffles faces and have to cover him/fuck him up w textures so hes barely visible 😔#BUT im not including alts this time i gotta stand by the concept #i cant do a whole piece abt covering his face bc he doesnt think of himself as real anymore and then show u his face anyway #definitely not just bc its a lot of steps to get the effects in place and i dont wanna do it twice sdkfhdf #honestly probably would have been easier to just print it bad for real and scan it back but too late now #and the quotes i wanted to b like yk sometimes ink will imprint from an opposite page #or make pale parts where heavy ink on an opp page blocks some sunburn or theres acid damage #the thief in the night title actually IS a faded imprint from a crunchy microfiche copy ik its the wrong book but it was too perf not to us #ALSO i picked hanged man bc the card actually fits him v well and ofc the visuals line up #but i didnt even realise til i was typing tags that last laugh actually is the 12th story too hehehe

i realised abt halfway through this that the costume in the original is actually a lamb not a bunny but. its bunnie. 🐇
