Frankenstein x Garda: Acclimation
Garda looked over the edge of the human's school. She watched as humans scurried along going about their daily routine. It was almost humorous. Their lives were so short, yet somehow they managed to live fulfilled, in the eighty or so years they had.
For a moment wondered what she would be like if she were a human. If she too could live a mundane existence, go to the place of schooling, fall in love and live happily for the blink of time she were allotted.
Maybe if she were a human, she could've escaped being tested, being manipulated and used. Maybe she could have lived happily. Her brows furrowed recalling what had happened to her. Her knuckles turned white as she clenched her fists, her nails worrying marks into her palms. They had taken every thing from her, and left her drowning.
"Garda," She turned at the mention of her name. It was Frankenstein. "I brought you a drink, have you tried soda before?" Frankenstein held out a can for her to take. Frankenstein was a memory of her past, before it all went wrong. It was laughable how little he had changed. If she tried hard enough she could pretend they were back eight-hundred years ago, and nothing had changed.
"I have not..." Garda took it with tentative hands, rolling it around in her grip trying to figure out how best to open it. Frankenstein placed a hand over hers moving her hands to pull at the latch at the top of the can.
"I wouldn't recommend shaking it too hard. Just pull here." She did as instructed and contents hissed from within the can. She took whiff, it smelled sweet. With the tiniest of sips she tasted the 'soda', it fizzed and bubbled in her mouth as she gulped it down.
"It's good. Thank you, Frankenstein."
Frankenstein was very good to her. It had been at Lord Muzaka's request that he take her in, to give her the life that the union took from her. Frankenstein had given her a bed to lie on, food to eat, and money to enjoy human commodities with. She looked around again, taking another sip, the bubbles making her cough slightly.
"How are you feeling?" It was a simple question, but she couldn't give a simple answer. How was she feeling? She was hurt, lost, empty of purpose. How could one summarise those feelings simply.
"I don't know..." She cast a second look to the scenery. "The days go by and I feel myself swept in the current. Everything is so different, I don't know how anyone could keep up." There were some similarities to her old life. The sky was the same, the bird and animals; they were all the same.
"It sounds like you're overwhelmed." His voice was the same as it had been way back when. "Perhaps you just need something to focus on. Something to keep you grounded." He placed a hand on her shoulder, a gesture which made the waves go still. Frankenstein offered a small smile, to which Garda found herself mimicking.
"Perhaps..." She sipped at the can before speaking up once more. "Would you like to watch the clouds with me?" Her face flushed ever so slightly at the juvenile request, but Frankenstein didn't seem to mind.
"I would love to."
And so they did just that. Standing side by side, eyes cast to the sky. Garda leaned into Frankentein, feeling steadier than she had felt before.
Hope you enjoyed. Feel free to send in Noblesse requests
