The most precious of art, the most envied and meaningful, is rarely from a “socially regular" mind. In terms of modern society and especially modern music, successful artists are pushed to be social and a spotlight of interest to the non-artists of the world, and the lack of artistry shows in their work. It is not a lack of talent from the artist, it is the distracted mind of the artist that fails to think beyond societal desires. 

Artistry for vanity and fame is incorrect.

Artistry should attempt to expand some kind of perspectivism in society. It should share thoughts and ideas, and not always correct ones, but it does share. Complete asceticism is not a requirement, but an interesting thought that so many legendary artists are reclusive in their own form (i.e., cartoonist Bill Watterson and director Stanley Kubrick).
