The Name-Writing Habits of NRC Students

Like most things that spiral out of control, it started with a small thing that lead to another

A small joke from Ace who thought it would be funny to write his own name on Yuu's left cheek while she took a nap during break time

Seeing Ace's name on her face somehow sparked something competitive in Deuce and without missing a beat, another name was quickly scribbled under her right eye

When Yuu promptly woke up after the second name was written, she could only watch in confusion when Ace immediately clasped Deuce's mouth before he was able to say something

On the way to the potions class, Yuu wasn't quite sure what the deal was when students started snickering around her like there was an inside joke she wasn't in

"Did anything happen during break time that I didn't know of?"

There was a sudden pause in movement from Adeuce and both started frantically shaking their head, Deuce more desperate than Ace

Something was definitely wrong, Yuu just prayed she could stay away from this one

(Out of Yuu's sight, Deuce elbows Ace in the gut and motions to her face)

Thankfully Crewel found it less interesting than the other students and promptly excused Yuu to the washroom to clean her face

Yuu had to mentally repeat to herself to not shout Ace and Deuce's names when she saw the bright red and blue names on her face

"What's with the scowl on your face?"

Standing next to her was Azul wiping his face with a handkerchief, glasses tuck into his front pocket

"No reason. Just that there was something on my face, thanks to the two idiots I call my friends."

"That reminds me. . ."

Hearing the pause midway in his sentence, Yuu stops her actions to notice Azul has put on his glasses and has a pen in his grasp

Ah crap

"A little fish told me that someone was having fun walking around with writing on their face."

Nope

Yuu quickly wipes the dripping water from her face and makes a dash towards the door

Only to find the Leech twins standing right outside the washroom door

"Shrimpy~" "Good Afternoon."

Two equally large smiles with all their sharp teeth shown in plain view

There was no way Yuu was going to out-run the twins in all their 190-something height glory so might as well just get the dreaded over with

Azul's smile brightens at seeing Yuu's defeated face and he grabs her wrist along to an empty hallway with the twins walking behind them

The prefect closes her eyes, waiting for the inevitable to come

Only to feel her bowtie coming undone which at this point had Yuu stopping Azul's hands

"Wait wait-wait, WAIT! Aren't you trying to write on my face?! Floyd, stop taking my gloves off. And Jade, don't think I didn't notice you trying to get my coat!"

"Where's the fun in writing on a place someone else has wrote on?"

Jade answers in place of Azul with a cheerfulness Yuu didn't know he had

Yuu's protests are quickly muffled as the trio work together to take off her coat, undone the top buttons to her collared shirt and her gloves were tucked into Floyd's pockets

"I call dibs on shrimpy's wrist!"

"Then I'll take her hand."

Leaving their benevolent dorm leader to carefully write down his name on Yuu's collarbone

Once the three of them were all done admiring their handiwork, which were three varying shades of blue names, they promptly restored her school uniform back to normal

(Yuu could only look on into the blank space with deadpan eyes during the meantime as they tidied up her uniform)

"Since our goal has been accomplished, we will be taking our leave. See you next time, prefect."

With a goodbye and an impeccable smile, the trio finally turns to go back to wherever they came from

Before Yuu could finally relax the tense nerves in her system, Floyd turns around to say one last thing

"The writing will remain for a week, so shrimpy doesn't need to worry about getting it smudged~"

Which left one final thought in the prefect's mind

Oh wow, I kinda lost track on how long I haven't updated. I guess it's been close to a year since I last wrote anything. Pretty sure I'm still in the realm of the living tho.

If I had to be real, I was burnout on some real life matters. Writing had always been more fun than I thought about so I think I'll be trying my hand again on some new writing posts.

Hey~ Most things around me now are pretty a-okay. Being an adult is pretty hard but at this moment in life, I think I got it.

I've actually been missing writing for some time too. There have been ideas that I thought about so much but couldn't find the time to sit down and finish it. Glad to see that you are still writing!

As per my previous ask, I'll probably try and get something short out first to kickstart my writing machine.

Hey hey hey. Sorry for the long absence, I've actually been doing much better now. Adulting is hard as always and there was a period where things was soul-crushingly painful but good news is that things have settled down for me.

There had been plans for some time to write again but it was difficult to get back into the mood.

2. What’s next on your ‘to-read’ list? (Fan fiction or otherwise)

Not sure! I usually find and read something as I go. I rarely have other books lineup since I immediately read one I like and find another when I'm done with my current one.

6. What’s the last thing you read that made you laugh?

A novel about a girl that was isekai'd and tasked with being a terrible ruler who ended up doing the exact opposite. Everytime the main character tried doing something bad, it would backfire in a good way. Such as wasting public funds to buy grass without much use but it turned out to be a good fertilizer for other plants.

20. Do you have a favorite fanfic or author? If so, tag them/post a link and share the love!

Vesperchan whom goes by Vesperlionheart on tumblr. One of my favorite series by her is the Obelisk series which is a sakura-centric AU with four main parts. If I could put my love for the stories in words, it would be too long for this post as it is genuinely an experience I could not forget. I would highly recommend others to read if they haven't and are interested.

One, I would like to say that all my twisted wonderland works are tagged 'female prefect yuu' so my stuff are stated to be for a female mc.

Two, I don't think fem reader fits as I do not write them as reader-inserts but anyone can self insert if they wish.

Note: Most probably have seen the meme of alternative responses to I love you. Just wanna write Yuu responding weirdly to getting confessed. This has been in my drafts for months since work kept kicking me down. Happy 200th post!

“Who doesn’t?”

Yuu never thought she would one day find Vil’s picture perfect smile to be so scary

“Why don’t you enlighten me on your other admirers, Yuu?”

Vil leans closer into Yuu’s face with a vague smile on his face, as if daring her to say another man’s name

With his face so up close, the blush on Yuu’s face has quickly entered into dangerous territory

In order to not further embarrass herself, Yuu replies with a vigorous shake of her head

“Then, would you consider me?

Light blonde hair that shined in the light, mesmerizing purple eyes that looked directly at her and a blinding smile 

Yuu could’ve swore she saw purple orchids blooming in the background

Who could ever say no to the beautiful dorm leader of Pomefiore?

“I know.”

“Y-you do?”

While Jack was able to maintain a poker face when needed, his ears and tail quickly reveals his true feelings

Jack’s feelings on Yuu was so obvious that the other NRC students have an ongoing betting ring on when Jack will confess his feelings

Rumors has it that some of NRC’s staff was also in on the bets

“Yuu? Are you listening?”

Jack’s ears flop down as he notices Yuu thoughts drifting away during his love confession

Yuu immediately feels a pang of guilt hitting her heart as if there was a sad puppy in front of her

“Yes, let’s go on a date then! How about the new café near the florist you frequently go to?”

Jack’s face immediately brightens up, fluffy ears perking up and tail wagging behind him

Yuu can feel her heart melting at such an adorable sight

“I’ll go pick you up in front of the Ramshackle dorm next Saturday, would that be fine?”

“Sure!”

Yuu would have reached out her hand to pat Jack’s head if not for the large height difference between them

Jack is just too cute ♡

“Thanks.”

“You’re welcome?”

Deuce can’t help but feel there’s something wrong with the conversation just now

Is it normal for people to respond like this when getting confessed to?

How is Yuu so calm?

“Did you actually heard what I just said?”

“Uh-huh, you like me. Have romantic feelings for me, want to-”

“Yuu, you can stop now, please.”

Deuce can’t help but bring his hands up to cover his face from all the embarrassment he’s feeling

“Sure. If it helps to ease your embarrassment, I love you as well.” 

Deuces does a double take at the dissonance of Yuu’s calm face and her explosive words

“Ar-are you sure? That, um, you like me back? In a romantic way, not as friends, I-”

With a small tug on his collar and a kiss on his mouth, the world goes silent

Yuu walks back to the Ramshackle dorm with a brand new boyfriend in hand

“A horrible decision, really.”

Judging from Sebek’s strained face, this wasn’t the response he wanted to hear

“I’m a human, remember? Don’t you hate humans?”

The color from Sebek’s face drains and his expression changes into something akin of regret from his past comments

His fingers running through his hair out of frustration, messing up his slicked up hair 

It was out of character for Sebek to show such a outward display of weakness

As Yuu was about to turn away, Sebek reaches out to grab her hand

“But it doesn’t change the fact that I fell for you.”

His green eyes staring into Yuu’s eyes with a rekindled flame

“Not some other fae, nor some other human. The person I fell for, was you.”

“Why.”

“Do you really want me to start explaining why I love you right now?”

All the confidence Jamil gathered to confess to Yuu started leaking out like air from a balloon

“Nononono, why as in why me. A magicless human from another world?”

It was a quiet little spot within the forest that Jamil had brought her to

Not a single person in view nor any forest critters in the background, which left Yuu to patiently wait for Jamil’s reply while staring at the ground

“You’re cute.”

20 minutes of her break and that’s all of what top student managed to say

The red ears peaking out from his hair displaying that the efficient vice dorm leader wasn’t as calm as Yuu thought

“ . . and?”

“By the great sevens, you can’t be serious about wanting me to explain why I love you.”

“Why not? It’s cute to see you like this.”

And the redness from Jamil’s ears has spread to his entire face

Yuu watches on with mild amusement as Jamil scrambles to say something to ease his embarrassment but only managing to make indiscernible sounds

Jamil was close to exiting the forest after looking at the gleefulness on Yuu’s face at seeing him so erratic

“Could you come back here tomorrow? During lunch, uh, I’ll tell you all the reasons about why.”

Maybe it was curiosity on what Jamil would say or maybe it was the way Jamil fidgeted as he formed his sentence

“Sure.”

*laughs nervously*

Despite being the more friendlier twin of the Leech twins, Jade isn’t someone you want to catch the attention of whether it be positive attention or negative attention

In an effort to stop herself from saying something stupid, Yuu only lets out a short laugh

While Jade continues to stare at her with his ever-present smile, Yuu looks as if a deer caught in the headlights

Ace, Deuce and Grim was conveniently absent, so who else could Yuu even hope for to come rescue her?

“Don’t worry, I’ll give you some time to think about your answer.”

Yuu feels that the butterflies in her stomach are going away

“Would 3 minutes be enough?”

The butterflies in her stomach has multiplied, Yuu is *this* close to throwing up from nervousness

Jade smiles in a way that showed all his pretty but very sharp teeth

“I’m sure you’ll think very carefully about your answer, right?”

*laughs hysterically*

“What’s so funny? I’m being serious over here!”

Sensing Ace’s increasing frustration of getting laughed at, Yuu wipes away the tears from her eyes

“So, did you lose a bet or something?”

“Of course not, is it so hard to believe that I have feelings for you?”

“Then why did you confess your feelings on April’s fool day?”

With a quick check on his phone and Yuu’s uncontrollable giggles in his ears, Ace can only let out a curse 

“YEET.”

Malleus tilts his head slightly in confusion of the new term that just popped out of Yuu’s mouth

“I’m sorry, but I don’t understand?”

Yuu continues to be amazed by Malleus lack of knowledge on any current trends 

“It’s a form of expressing excitement.”

“So you are excited about my confession?”

“Totally, it’s my first time getting confessed to.”

Yuu’s overly cheerful disposition is starting to give Malleus a bad feeling 

“I see, so does that mean you reciprocate my feelings?”

“I mean, aren’t we already friends?”

Looking at the sincere face in front of him, Malleus lets out a sigh

Maybe he should have went to Lilia for advice on confessing to a human 

As not only is he sorely lacking in knowledge of the human language but also the inner workings of a human’s psychology

“I’m sorry.”

The confident smile on Azul’s face shatters into a thousand pieces

“What do you mean you’re sorry? Is there anything wrong!?”

“Uh, force of habit?”

Yuu fidgets with the sleeves of her uniform as she tries to organize her thoughts

“You’re a wonderful person but I, um, I’m really sorry that I can’t acceptyourfeelings-”

Yuu mutters out another sorry after she blurts her rejection in quick session, eyes not daring to look at the dorm leader she just rejected

Was she going to die after rejecting Azul? Is Floyd and Jade going to kill her???

The short silence felt like an eternity with all sorts of scary thoughts in Yuu’s mind 

“Then, allow me to apologize as well.”

Yuu looks up to see Azul with the same expression he uses while coercing students to sign contracts

“Because I don’t plan on giving up on you.”

*finger guns*

Truly a moment where your body react before your brain does

Yuu and Idia stares at each other while Yuu maintains her finger guns

Idia screams quietly in his mind out of the awkwardness in the air and the false courage he had to even confess about his feelings

Yuu is close to screaming in real life out of unexpectedness of getting confessed by Idia, out of all the people she knows

“I-”

“Don’t! Uh, um, you don’t need to, tell me your answer.”

The large hood on his hoodie was truly a blessing, letting him hide his flushed face from Yuu

“I just . . AGH! Pretend I never said anything!”

Then, Idia dashes from the scene with a speed Yuu has never seen him with

Leaving dear Yuu to stare at the air in front of her by herself

“. . .?”

“If only there was someone out there who loved you.”

Yuu could feel the murderous intent manifesting into the atmosphere from Floyd as she is backed into a wall 

“Care to repeat what you just said, shrimpy?”

Something tells Yuu that she might meet her unfortunate end if she were to repeat what she said before

“. . . I love you too?”

“Then prove it to me.”

Floyd leans down without losing a moment and points a finger at his lips

How are you?

Imagine if Fem Mc accidentally drank a magic potion that turns them into a man...

Mc (and the Nrc staff) would be happy as they would finally be allowed to rest but the rest of the NRC and RSA would panic and would like to turn Mc back into a girl.

How chaotic would that be? I feel like it would be really chaotic.

Happy very belated New Years! I was somewhat tired due to staying up for new years eve back then and my neck is kinda sore as well but I think I'm fine~ I feel really bad as this ask came out way later than expected. My writing speed continues to disappoint me with how long I procrastinated. It makes me envious of you for being able to write so fast (⭑•͈ ᴗ •͈ ).

Male!Yuu via Magic Potion

Let it be known to never ever drink something without checking the contents of it first

Anyway, Yuu is unfazed about this whole sex change thing

As someone who travelled to another dimension, encountered magic, met a talking cat and had prophetic dreams, turning into a man doesn’t seem that special 

Looking in the mirror, Yuu had grown like 10 centimeters more while her (his?) hair was slightly shorter than before 

It’s hard to tell if Yuu’s face have become more masculine  

Meanwhile, on the other side of the room, all the twst boys are having an existential crisis 

The Night Raven College staff are concerned about how to change Yuu back to normal but also really concern over the mental breakdown their other students are having

“Did the potion have other side effects I was unaware of?”

“Just let them be, Trein. They’ll get over it. I think.”

Ignoring the crestfallen students, Yuu is brought in front of Mr. Crewel and Mr. Trein for some additional questions about the potion and if there were any other effects she (he?) was feeling

Crowley and Mr. Vargas kicks the other male students out of the alchemy lab for taking up space

“I feel fine. Magic? I’m gonna go on a ‘no’. I doubt I sprouted any animal features as well.”

Turning into a man feels anti climatic as hell, Yuu kinda wished he gained other abilities other than just new body parts

Mr. Crewel sends Yuu out with a hair ruffle and tells him to come straight to him or Mr. Trein if anything goes wrong

Ace and Deuce rushes up to Yuu as he leaves the lab and quickly asks if Yuu was feeling well

To their despair, Yuu is really leaning to staying as a guy for longer

Yuu picks up Grim just as usual, perhaps a little easier from his new found strength and heads back to Ramshackle dorm

“Isn’t this fine? NRC is an all-male school after all, Yuu can just stay as a male-”

Crewel steps on Crowley’s feet for his wildly irresponsible comment 

With the teachers of NRC working on the cure, surely there would be no reason to worry, right?

Right?

The confidence the twst boys had crumbled as days turned into weeks and weeks turned to a month without a single potion nor spell dispelling Yuu’s transformation

“Maybe all Yuu needs is a kiss of true love!”, proclaims Neige

And then he got promptly restrained by Vil and Rook who ran over once they saw Neige dashing towards Yuu 

Neige had to sit through three hours of Vil’s lectures on the ineffectiveness of true love’s kiss and the concept of boundaries

Throughout the lecture, Yuu couldn’t help but notice the dark circles under Vil’s and Rook’s eyes 

“What if I’m permanently stuck in a man’s body for the rest of my life?”

Yuu’s words almost caused Ace and Deuce to have an heart attack

Jack and Epel weren’t better off as their body froze up with a frantic look in their eyes

Sebek grabs Yuu’s shoulders with more force than needed and tells him not to say something so terrifying suddenly

Yuu finds the tone Sebek spoke in way scarier but he wasn’t about to say it to Sebek’s face as he was still grabbing Yuu

Speaking of acting strange, the other NRC students have also been acting weird around him ever since Yuu became a man

Trey would reach his hand out unconsciously to wipe the crumbs near his face but stop before he actually touches Yuu’s face

Jade has been mumbling and reading books related to BI, or was it BL?

Malleus has been really busy lately and has became good friends with Idia due to sharing the same interest in researching magic related to transformations

Riddle, Azul and Jamil has also been spending more time together in the library and consulting Mr. Crewel after classes 

Yuu is glad all of them are on such good terms with each other despite the overblots

Ace doesn’t know if Yuu is playing dumb or actually dumb on why all this relationships have transpired 

To everyone’s surprise, the transformation effect begins to wear off on it’s own on a nice sunny day

Yuu’s loose uniform on her male body had become even looser on her original body which lead to her pants falling down in broad day light

Truly tragic.

Everyone in a 10 meter radius immediately rushed over with their uniform coats in hand 

Yuu wants to curse the two students who threw their coats at her, one at her face and the other at her bare legs

With Yuu being back to normal and her legs no longer exposed, peace has been restored at Night Raven College

Note: Going on a rant

YES, I did. That's what basically pulled me back to the hnkna fandom and finally made me played the first few installments of the series. Words cannot describe the happiness I felt when I first saw the pv, it was as if I fell in love once again.

I do hope it is not the final installment as I don't think otomate is able to give a satisfying end to the entire series with black as the remaining part to tie up the series. And speaking of Julius, it feels like it's missing way too many of the og characters to have the end be satisfying for me.

Part of me is still a little sad about the changes which are the VAs and art style change. I really like the anniversary no kuni art styles and shinosobans was good as well, but the new art style just seems kinda off. Nevertheless, Spade no kuni is still great. The osts brings me close to tears.

Hoping more people can discover the series because it's so so so good. Not only is there a translated version of one of the installments in the series, there are also numerous translated manga! There's also a discord server if you wanna meet more fans.

I wanna leave off with saying that Alice is my absolute fav ♡

Cater: Yuu, are you done packing?

Yuu: Yes, I’ve brought all my baggage with me.

Cater: I don’t see it?

Yuu: Goodnight tree.

Grim's bar is unable to go higher than 50%

Jamil is the one with the 60% bar when Yuu spots him and Kalim

Students that have a bar higher than 0% but lower than 10% know or heard about Yuu but does not know her personally and had no interactions yet

Yuu becomes very avoided outside of the students with high affection bars because most of them get into trouble with the others simply by interacting with Yuu

I did not set which specific students sent the roses, chocolates, gifts to Yuu but would be from the wealthy ones (namely Leona, Kalim, Vil)

The last thing would be that I wanted to write numerous snippets that are the different endings which the fic could have just as dating games usually have a variety of endings. It would mostly be based on the combination of characters that are able to 'capture' Yuu. But, there's no guarantee if I write endings outside of that idea as well. I’ll include an example of what I envision as an snippet of an ending.

Very lastly, I’m heavily in love with Heart no Kuni no Alice / Alice in the Country of Hearts and it’s a big motivation for my dating sim related works.

Day in, day out. It was the same scenery, the same people and the same daily life. Yuu doesn’t know how long has passed since she was confined in this tower. 

(She stopped counting after day 274.)

Recently, it’s been Sebek that brings her meals to the room Yuu sleeps in since she started refusing to eat. There was almost nothing Yuu can do to hurt them and if starving herself could make them feel even an ounce of what she feels, Yuu thinks it’s worth it.

Freshly baked bread and a bowl of beef stew with a side of mashed potatoes. Yuu gives her apologies to the chef in her mind as she was about to waste another perfectly good meal. 

Sebek looks as if he’s going to shout at Yuu ignoring her meal but stops at the very last second.

“We’re all very worried about you. Don’t you want to take a bite? You said you like the stew the chefs made, right?”

But Yuu hates them more than she likes the stew. What sane person would like the people that locked them up in an impossibly high tower in the Valley of Thorns? Especially when they were locked up by the very people they thought were their friends.

“Yuu. Please have some food, even a bite will do. Young master, Lilia-sama and Silver are worried sick. I, too, wish you would eat some.”

The image of Sebek asking, begging even, was at the least a different sight from her usual life in the tower. 

Yuu wonders how long will she continue to torment them by harming herself.
