Since the show started from Will being missing and carries on through him constantly dealing with more and more because of the Mindflayer and Vecna, I want to share a hc I have of Will! Will's an observer, he notices small details people tend to overlook. As an artist it's helpful in his work, but if he hadn't been taken etc. I feel he would've been a character who would step away from the bigger picture the rest of the group would work on an obsess or think about smaller things they've overlooked (when he wasn't experiencing the worst luck in the narrative). It's interesting to think about Will finding more about Henry by prying into his past when everyone else focuses just on what Vecna's future plan is; Will would have gone alone/ initiated searching to see if any hints in Henry's past and records would be helpful. He might have gone to find Patty Newby for information, using Bob being with his mother to get closer to her (and consequently bring her up to Vecna when he finds out they were romantically involved, or finding out how similarly he and Henry were treated in Hawkins).
