Interviewer: So what are you painting today, Louis?
Louis: I don't know, I've just sat down in this chair, got handed some paint, and got told I'm doing a bit of painting. I think I'm going to do a self-portrait, am I? I think?
Louis: Oh, I'm doing that! That's like a proper, like, Bob Ross. It's like my third landscape. *%! okay, okay.
Interviewer: On a scale of one to 10, how would you rate your art skills?
Louis: Yeah. I’d probably rate my art skills at about two out of 10. I’d love to be good at art, never really put the time in. See, even here, I’m looking at all these different sizes of brushes. It’s all a bit technical for me!
Interviewer: So let’s start with your third studio album, How Did I Get Here?
Louis: How do you make orange? Red, and yellow. Sorry. I’m listening. Yeah?
Interviewer: Talking about your album, How Did I Get Here?. How did you get here today, Louis?
Louis: I came in a Viano, very bougie, very bougie. Sorry, I’m just… oh. Fudging things up.
Interviewer: Now you said you’re more open to pop sensibilities with How Did I Get Here?. Why is that, and why did you push against it originally?
Louis: I think when you come out of a band like One Direction, although it is pretty cliché, you’ve got a point to prove. You want to say who you are as an artist. I think for the longest time— I don’t even know what I’m doing here, these are just straight lines— for the longest time, I defied a lot of, not specifically pop stuff, the stuff that just felt… it was more important for me to prove a point. This time ‘round, I’m coming with less of a point to prove, and more just making the record that I think I deserve to make.
