agnostic-atheist spectrum but with flavors
an omnipotent creator being almost certainly doesn't exist but if it does, it's a supervillain
gods shouldn't exist but we keep creating them to use as weapons. and no one knows how to defuse one
gods don't exist which is a relief bc otherwise we'd be forced to hunt them down for execution
creator god exists and we owe it nothing (DEEPLY unqualified)
god/s abandoned us and it hurt at the time but in hindsight we escaped a highly toxic relationship
the universe is a pet goldfish kept in an irresponsibly small bowl by a toddler deity whose parents are considering moving up to a hamster
not just atheist but anti-theist. a divine being descends to earth and im in the background booing
god isn't real but if it was, we'd be obligated to imprison it for crimes against humanity

hey everyone, just curious:
what is everyone's criteria for blocking people?
Got some good shots at tgirl baseball yesterday! Was a great time and we had a great turnout. Had like 50+ tgirls out there!
If you were handcuffed to your girl blorbo with magical unbreakable handcuffs for 24h, would you be okay with this?
I trust her, I’ll be fine
I trust her, but it’ll be a stressful 24h
It depends on what kind of day we’re having
This is gonna suck…

There’s a quality that certain books/movies/TV shows have that leads me to say, “Yeah, I can see people making fanfiction of that.” It’s something to do, I think, with how tight the story is, how much feels open-ended or like it could be elaborated on.
Something like Breaking Bad, for example, has low squiggability (that’s what I’m calling this quality). It’s tightly written, the characters are consistent, there’s little left to interpolate or extrapolate. Obviously, people DO write fanfic of Breaking Bad, but it still has a low squiggability score. Whereas something like Supernatural has a high squiggability score. Fantasy and science fiction often have high squiggability scores. This suggests squiggability could also be related to worldbuilding and potential for people to borrow a premise or setting.
And sometimes you’ll read or watch something and you’ll say, “Ah, low squiggability,” and then you’ll open tumblr and find out that everyone else seem to think its squiggability was very high indeed.
i miss everyone
My only complaint about Black Sails is that Silver never picks up any of the god-awful slang he uses in Treasure Island.
Like, all I want is for season one Silver to go “shiver me timbers!” and Flint to look at him and say “who the fuck told you that was something pirates say”

It’s crazy to me how in so many “analyses” of the freedom in the dark speech that the final line “once someone has illuminated it” is always left out considering how key it is to actually understanding that statement. He’s not saying “dark good, light bad”. He’s saying you can find extraordinary things in the shadows if one can muster the courage to shine a light on them and explore outside the fences. Obviously flint is speaking ideologically here but on a fundamental level he’s speaking of his sexual awakening with Thomas being the one to “illuminate” it, much like how Max did the same for Anne (Max saying “we should bring it into the light” before their first kiss isn’t a coincidence either). Flint doesn’t want himself, or any other unjust outcasts of civilization’s twisted sense of morality, to be chained in the darkness and demonized. That’s kind of what the whole revolution is about. It’s also part of what made news of Thomas’ death so devastating for him and Miranda (“Thomas died in a cold dark place”), and what makes the 4x10 reunion simultaneously cathartic and quietly tragic. Flint finally gets his wish of kissing him in the warmth of broad daylight without a care who sees, but a secluded prison that “doesn’t exist” to the rest of the world is the only place he can do that due to the unshakeable chokehold that colonial oppression and morality had during that time period. Like this doesn’t take much inference to figure out it’s literally stated in words in the dialogue
while i'm thinking about my thoughts and inclinations wrt the finale. the LEAST convincing arguments that i've read on whether flint lives or dies are ones that say that it Isn't In His Character to give up the fight or that it Isn't In His Character to *not* give it up. bc i think the story has been maneuvered very deftly to a point such that neither choice would feel out of character or out of keeping with the themes of the story. i mean we see that when silver asks him directly if he would trade the war for thomas hamilton he says he doesn't know, and i think that we as the audience also do not have the tools to know what he would do when presented with some version of that choice. because his participation in the war wasn't just out of grief, even if silver thinks that--he has ideological convictions, he has more personal resentments about his career ambitions and a sense of wounded pride which could not be redressed no matter who miraculously came back to life. but he also clearly values companionship, comfort, domesticity, not being seen as the bad guy etc etc. these things are at least a little bit mutually exclusive but that's what makes for a good character. he goes back and forth on whether he can reconcile with england depending on the circumstances and his emotional state. such that saying that he ever reaches a point where it is impossible that he could ever accept or impossible he could ever reject a situation that is roughly the same thing is like. i just don't think you can definitively say either of those things! both of those contradictory things are in character!! what about the human heart in conflict with itself you guys used to love the human heart in conflict with itself...
