KINGDOM HEARTS IV | D23 2026 SHOWCASE TRAILER
I WILL NOT BE SHUT ABOUT THIS FOR WEEKS.
Ray Bradbury’s short story “There Will Come Soft Rains” that was written in 1950 is set on the day of August 4th, 2026 (tomorrow)!! Now’s your chance to read it around the time it’s based in!
Audio: A recording of Leonard Nimoy reading it on Internet Archive.
Text: A PDF version.
Graphic Novel: On Internet Archive.
I used to set this one for second year undergraduate creative writing seminars on writing science fiction on a double bill with Octavia E. Butler's "Bloodchild" and no-one here gets out alive.
!!!! Today is the only chance we’ll ever have to listen to this absolute banger of apocalyptic fiction on the very day the story is set 😲✨
Nemoy’s voice is PERFECT in this!
(A content warning if you do listen - the dog dies, though it’s not super graphic)
I paused the robot vacuum so I could listen to this 1950’s story predicting the robot vacuum.
Adding Sara Teasdale's poem of the same name that inspired the story because you gotta read them together.

Ok, I’m not over this actually. The fact that Leela can be controlled by a threat to one person. Leela—who defied her own people of the only reality she had ever known, who was willing to ignore the Doctor if she thought he wasn’t doing the right thing, who defied and left Romana in favor of the oppressed. She is allowing people to be oppressed, hurt, and killed without trying to stop it. She is watching quietly as terrible people do terrible things. She is helping them do these things instead of running off to help the resistance. The universe against one person’s life, and she made the wrong choice, but how lovely is that?
"the Hadestown proshot exceeds box office expectations" truly, who could have predicted fans going repeated times, to see the musical whose entire concept is about the musical repeating
can't believe that the turning around story ended with him turning around again i'm so upset
