Now hear me out, i have read a fic of Ancient Egypt of Jono x Priest Seto angst and hurt fic where Jono dies in front of Seto and begs for Osiris to bring him back, i am possibly going to write a mummy version of Jono as Seto uses Osiris forbidden magic of ressurrection to bring him back for not dealing with loss, especially with the fact Kisara also died in front of him being other person he loved.
Love it! I wrote down some notes on a similar fic idea back in the day, but following the 1999 movie version of The Mummy. XD Seto is the titular mummy, and he meets the reincarnated Katsuya on his quest to resurrect Jono, which is what he was punished for in the first place. It was a crossover fever dream. Lol
I know it is a late post, but do you still have that fic crossover so i can read? It's been so long since i watched this movie, but i am kinda curious how you handled that KaiJou crossover AU with The Mummy movie.

Katsuya comes to Egypt with his friends on a field trip with Solomon. There they discover Hamunaptra, a long-lost city that's said to house a terrible curse, but also contains some super secret Duel Monsters lore. They're warned away by Atem, who appears as a desert nomad, yet they end up poking around anyway and awaken the mummy in question.
They escape and return to Cairo, but Atem tracks them down to warn them that they are now being hunted. That mummy is Seto, who was subjected to the Hum-Dai ritual as a punishment for attempting a forbidden resurrection spell. Katsuya and Co. learn that he is after three things: The Book of the Dead, the mummified body of a former servant named Jono, and Katsuya. He wants to complete the ritual, and he needs to sacrifice Katsuya to do it, since Katsuya is Jono's reincarnation and is housing a part of Jono's soul.
Shenanigans ensue. Seto kills a bunch of people and regenerates himself by sucking out their life force. He manages to get the body and the book, then convinces Katsuya to come with him after threatening his friends. He takes him back to Hamunaptra, and the others follow, bent on rescuing Katsuya.
That's when they learn the backstory: Seto and Jono were deeply in love, but Seto was bent on summoning the Winged Dragon of Ra. The spell went awry, and Jono jumped in front of Seto to protect him from the resulting lightning, thus ending his own life. Seto, in his grief, turned to the forbidden ritual, against Atem's warnings. Atem's father, the Pharaoh, discovered this and had Seto punished. Atem then undertook a curse of his own, suspending Seto's soul from the eternal suffering intended by staking his own soul as a substitute. The result was that Atem became unable to die, while Seto was trapped in eternal sleep. Atem was banished for this, and has since acted as a guardian of Hamunaptra.
Back in the present, the gang shows up to fight Seto as he's preparing the ritual. In the end, the piece of Jono's soul still in his body leaps out and possesses Katsuya, and he speaks to Seto, convincing him to lay down his weapons and go to the afterlife with him. Using the souls he had absorbed, Seto breaks free of the curse and releases himself into the afterlife. Atem is freed from his curse of immortality, as his wounds begin to bleed. He ends up coming back with the group, as Katsuya contemplates Seto's fate.
In the epilogue, we see a time far in the future, where Seto and Jono have both reincarnated and are living happily together.
It's a lot of crossover bullshit, but it was my pet AU for a while. 😂 I may end up writing it out as a story someday, I just need the energy to start another longfic.
