Vaguely irate, faintly nauseous, and ambiguously uncomfortable in a way where you can function and act normal, even though you'd much rather be face down on the ground doing the worm while shrieking like a banshee in a rock tumbler.
On this day, 9 August 1956, 20,000 women in Pretoria, South Africa marched against pass laws: apartheid laws curtailing freedom of movement for Black and Indian people. The Federation of South African Women-organised demonstration delivered a petition against the laws with 100,000 signatures and the participants sang "Wathint’Abafazi Wathint’imbokodo" meaning ‘Now you have touched the women, you have struck a rock’. The protest kickstarted a wave of civil disobedience across the country over two years in which thousands of women were arrested, until leaders of the African National Congress panicked and called it off. August 9 is commemorated today in South Africa as Women's Day. I wanted to play with a phrase :"Jason is Batman's mistake," but that it's the mistake of fans (through Prime)
Final->Begin
the other day I mentioned Rowling's recent horrendous acts to my grandma (I was hanging out with her and it came up on my phone) and y'all know what she said?
she said, paraphrasing: "you know, I read all those books, and I really liked them. I watched all those movies and I really liked them. but a couple days ago I found those movies on (whatever channel) and tried to watch them, but I couldn't get into it. thinking about that woman, I just couldn't. I felt sick"
my 69yo grandmother understands it better than a lot of y'all do

15 years old: i was so cringe when i was twelve, i'm super mature now though. i'm a totally different person. i'm basically an adult
18 years old: i was so. (trying to be nicer to myself) fifteen. when i was fifteen. i wasn't an adult even a little back then. i'm an adult now though of course
21 years old: i was so newborn fawn taking its first steps when i was 18. i wasn't an adult at 18 i'm barely even an adult now tbh
23 years old: i was so. hey wait the others have all gone up in increments of three why'd it change
23 years old: because i'm still 23 so i can't speak to that experience yet
23 years old: do you think anything will magically change in the next few months to the point where you can't possibly imagine how you'll feel at 24
23 years old: i mean you never know. anything can happen. they're letting people born in 2002 turn 24, for instance

Reminder to you and everyone you follow: back up your devices. Not tomorrow. Not next week. Now.
I back my computer up every six months and was planning to this week. I procrastinated by a day, and my SSD corrupted* — I lost six months of photos, including old photos of my life from now-deleted tumblr post, thousands of words of my writing, and game save files (luckily I emailed my two main Minecraft worlds to a friend last week so I only lost a few days of work). Not to mention that now my Windows will be up-to-date, 2½ years further ahead than mine had been. I'm going to have to battle ai back when I get my computer.
If you make a lot of art, back your work up way more often.
Please.
*Also, maybe don't download exports of any of your blogs, even small ones. That's what corrupted my drive. Literally and directly.
I feel pretty uncomfortable telling people not to take exports of their blogs, though I’m sorry that happened to you. Backing up and backing up your backups is a very good idea, though!
You think you don’t need to do it right now; this is the devil talking.
I said for years I needed to back up all my baby photos and videos. Then my house burned down, and I have no evidence of my childhood whatsoever. I now spray fully formed like Athena during the advent of social media.
Back it up now. Do it for me, please. Do it for all the memories I have lost. Don’t live with the regret I have.

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.
friendly reminder that skin picking, overwashing, finger biting, and hair pulling are not “bad habits” or personal failings; they are all forms of evolutionarily ingrained self harm disorder called Repetitive Body-Focused Behavior that is a natural response to high stress levels and poor quality of life caused by the same neurological processes that cause animals to overgroom when they’re kept in inhumane conditions
