It does admittedly feel kind of like this was the chapter where Toby realized that he can just kind of do anything like what the hell is anyone gonna do to stop him he's literally making Deltarune. He's literally Toby Fox. Here's his new character Thirty Minute Long Suicide Joke

I think the funniest thing Toby Fox could do is not have Papyrus show up in Deltarune at all and then in the post credits after you you beat the game you'd see a message appear that says "you can now play with Papyrus" and then he'd be retroactively inserted into every single chapter like some kind of new game+

i hate it when people call stuff in this game "theorybait" and "lorebait" thats called foreshadowing and storytelling. theres an entire storytelling genre based around "theorybait" and its called mystery
