It was a huge milestone of scientific and technological advancement. (Plus, at the time, politically significant). Humanity went to space! We set foot on a celestial body that was not earth for the first time in human history! That’s a big deal! I’ve never thought about it before but now that I have, it’s ridiculous to me that that’s not part of our everyday lives and the public consciousness anymore. Why don’t we have a public holiday and a family barbecue about it. Why have I never seen the original broadcast of the moon landing? It should be all over the news every year!

Despite dearly loving music, my own flavor of neurodivergence and personal history has given me some triggers to certain images, and with the advent of things like iPods / Spotify / etc seemingly putting the cover art more front and center (in my experience), I've been wondering lately...

Has an album, EP or single's cover art ever turned you away from listening to a song (or artist)?

I think at the core of it I don't want to Have to do anything. I wish that earning a living was just getting up every day and going "I'm bored" and then you leave your house and find a Task you wanna do and then do the Task and are compensated with food or useful items or something. and maybe it's a different task every single day, or it's the exact same every day forever but every day is the Opportunity. to pick a different task. if you want. or you can stay inside and do hobbies. and if you want you can maybe go outside and show people your hobbies and because you brought those people joy, you get compensated. not because you sold them something, just because the act of sharing your joy is valuable to the world. so you get stuff so you can live and keep doing it. my sick and twisted fantasy.

So I do 3D modeling and printing as a hobby, and a few weeks ago I designed wheel guards meant to prevent office chairs from running over cables and clothes... or your pet's tail.

I got the idea from cowcatchers old locomotives used to have.

Anyways, yesterday I uploaded the model to Thingiverse, and just hours after uploading it, the Community Relationship Manager of the whole website left a comment suggesting I enter the model into a competition that's currently being held on the site.

So I did... and now it's in third place not even a day later. First place is $500, but the competition still has a month to go.

Then the Community Manager contacted me again, telling me they want to feature my model in an upcoming design promotion.

Just, what is happening? I mostly made this thing for myself in, like, an hour, and now it's suddenly super popular? This is all a little bit overwhelming 😵‍💫

Other models I worked on for weeks didn't get nearly as popular. I swear, it's impossible to predict what people will like.
