Trailering with the saddle on can be controversial depending on the crowd you run with. For me and Stanley it has been a valuable experience. We have found a way to safely do it and create positive experiences as a result.

Last week Stanley and I had a moment in the spotlight as we got a professional photoshoot done. The smoky air took away our golden hour but replaced it with a soft moody ambient glow. I'm always self-conscious but I am so glad we did it and I love the photos.

Since reading "Brain Training for Riders" by Andrea Monsarrat Waldo my riding has exponentially improved. The book changed my life. In her newest book released May 2026 The Imperfect Ride, I once again am experiencing a huge shift in my world; I'm learning to fly and I'm defining my own brand of joy.

Some weeks are busier than others. Normally hauling my horse to one activity in a week is exciting but we got around to doing it twice this week...and had an all-new experience later on!

Recently I've been pushing myself to get out of the comfort zone, to break away from perfectionism, and to give myself permission to strive towards goals which once felt out of reach.

Today is a two-for-one. I review Purina's Replenimash as an electrolyte for inclement weather and also for a post workout recovery. I also mention my combination use of Purina SuperSport for Stanley's post-workout "protein shakes." A Neuroscientist and a cowboy join forces to bring us a book called Evidence Based Horsemanship. Dr Stephen Peters shares with us the horse's neurobiology while Martin Black elaborates giving real life examples. This book aims to improve horsemanship and horse welfare by helping us humans understand our equine companions better.

On this month's Book Club: Liberty Biscuit by Melanie Sue Bowles is an excellent young reader fiction novel and can be an enjoyable easy read for adults. This is book one of a two part series.

It's amazing how cruel our minds can be...and I recently struggled with a week or two of serious self-doubts and shame. If I had given up on riding I would not have had a chance to remember why we love doing all of this.

On This Month's Book Club: Ambition, Book One of the Eventing Series by Natalie Keller Reinert. This book follows a young eventing trainer as she strikes out on her own. She has a chip on her shoulder and a whole lot to learn.
