I know my “When Lance was Balan he looked exactly like canon Balan looks now” headcanon is just in fact a headcanon from me misinterpreting Lance’s final speech to Balan at the end of the novel but I do like how their hair colors kind of reflect their ages. Lance’s is silver/white which of course is usually associated with older people (or just aging in general) but then Balan’s hair is green, which could be associated with things like new plants blooming, spring coming after winter (which could also go with Lance’s hair color), just life or newness overall
