The process of writing and recording my first official album "I'm Talking to My Mother" was amazing and exciting and not at all what I expected. To be honest in most cases it wasn't fun and there was never enough wine. Now I'm lying..there was always plenty of wine. In the first few sessions we recorded an album that was intended to be a live album meets live interviews meets livestock. Then we decided to remove the live stuff and we just had static. Even with the sounds of livestock, it didn't make a great album. Then I started writing and talking and I said, "this is great...I've been talking for 3 hours...maybe we should record this." Next thing I know, we were recording and writing and recording and deleting and re-recording and of course drinking. After all the months of work, I really can't remember what the album is about, but you do hear my voice quite a bit. I do remember the stories about my life, the things I have seen, and hope the listener cares about it. And if they don't care, they can at least pretend to. My suggestion is to drink wine. Wine makes you care about things you never thought you cared about. As the groove of the album started and we settled on the track listing, I realized that I actually made a viable project that I personally would like to listen to. It's recommended to listen to while driving, taking a bath, eating a snack, or trying to jump start your car. That is what is so versatile about this project. The title happened when I realized how much of my mother made me who I am. She ignores me so much that I just kept upping the anti. Being bigger and more obnoxious until someone validated me, my work, and bought me an ice cream cone. Now that people started paying attention and started buying me ice cream, it was time to tell these stories. Now I share them with the world or at the very least a small group of homeless people who have an ITunes account. I love you...enjoy.
