Leaning back against the old wooden fence, Rex watched the horizon in search of the “Tall, silver man” like the letter had described.
A strange description to most perhaps, but he was already somewhat aware of who Spine was from all the letters they’ve sent back and forth through the past two years. The meeting was defiantly long overdue by now, but it was better late then never.
Now all he could do was wait and hope the other didn’t have any trouble on the way here. Perhaps he should’ve been the one to visit, instead of having Spine come all this way after all…
The Spine approached, squinting through the dust. He saw the gangly cowboy and smiled hugely. He couldn’t help the goofy grin; though he was usually stoic, he couldn’t contain his excitement.
“Rex!” He called, coming over happily.
Pushing himself off the fence, Rex grinned as the other approached, glad to see he had got here in one piece.
“Spine, it’s good to finally see ya! I hope you didn’t have too much trouble on the way here?”
“Yeah, only a few slurs thrown my way,” he said, smiling. “I met a couple of bots. They were real nice. Not many of us around here, though, huh?”
“Only a handful ‘ere and there. Ya dont see em too often sadly, since people usually aren’t the…kindest to 'em. Didn’t really think that through when I invited ya though, so I’m sorry for that.”
