We've started to get the show on the road! Tomorrow will be the official public launch of the children's library project and it's trek into the digital age. How exciting!

Welcome to Fenham library, well the project blog anyway but you know what we mean. Fenham is a part of Newcastle, situated in the North East of the United Kingdom. Recently this fab little library was threatened with closure but the council and its supporters found means to avert this and keep it open! Hurray

Built in the 1920's in the depths of a depression its a hardy little thing. As a grade II listed building we've got the challenge of blending the old with the new but if it's survived a World War or two it'll survive us too no doubt.

In light of this our lovely company, Shoofly Publishing has been called in to work with the library and Bridge North-East to create a children's section in the library to help it find a firm foothold in the community.

That said we thought, 'hmmm who loves libraries more than the folks at tumblr?' We should share this adventure with them to! So here we are. We hope you'll enjoy seeing the progress so far and you might even be able to participate in this too later down the line. How neat would that be?  

So whats our goals?  1. To Create a flippin' awesome children's section.

2. To Engage children in storytelling and reading.

3. To Merge the new and the old by incorporating technology.
