“There we go. Problem solved.” She shrugged. taking a bite of her burger. “She tries anything, I’ll sort her out. And I will sort her out.”

“I just wish I had more control over my own life...”  She said with a soft sigh, looking back out the window as they approached the castle. “Sorry. Sorry...I really shouldn’t complain. Ii have a good life. A great life. I should be more appreciative.”

He plated them up and set them down in front of her. “Alright...chocolate coated strawberries just for you.” Jaxon grinned. “You wanna go in the hot tub?” He asked. “Or...chill in the living room?”

He raised his eyebrows in surprise as she let out a belch, unable to suppress his chuckle. “Well...I can say that’s the first time a girl has comfortable burped around me.” Nathan ran a hand through his hair, before extending his other to her. “Come on, let’s go celebrate.”

Nathan bit his lip, thinking for a moment. “We can get a cab and try the bar...maybe stay for one, and then before the rest of the town catches on to where we are, head back to mine?” He suggested. “I mean, if it’s going to be your birthday, we need to celebrate. How old are you gonna be? If you don’t mind me asking.”

“Hey, SoHo is alright...and a home is whatever you make it.” He smiled slightly as she spoke. She was sweet, and it was refreshing to be in the company of a woman who wasn’t hyperventilating every five minutes. “...I would love to be shown your favourite bar. I will even buy you a drink.” He grinned. “...are we taking a cab, or walking?”

Estelle wasn’t the kind of girl that typically fell in love. Nor was she one to run down the halls and sing from the rooftops when it did happen. Perhaps that was why her and Harvey hadn’t lasted - maybe he had wanted her to be that kind of girl, and she just couldn’t be. But ever since they had broken up, her heart ached. She missed everything about him - his smile, his touch. She knew they were over, but she just couldn’t stay away. “Should I not?” Estelle said with a slight smile, crossing her legs and leaning forward. “That’s not what you used to say to me, when I’d sneak in here after cheer practice...”

Lily felt herself getting more and more giddy the closer she got to the front of the queue. She had a copy of her favourite book of Akan’s in her bag - Endless Summer. Smiling gently, she spoke up first. “Endless Summer is my favourite! Although, rules of engagement is my second favourite.”

“Chocolate and strawberries?” He chuckled, popping the bottle open and pouring them both drinks. “Tonight, every wish of yours is my command.” Jaxon opened up the fridge and took out a punnet of strawberries, setting them on the counter. He then put a saucepan of hot water on, placed a bowl over the top, and began to melt the chocolate.

Estelle listened carefully, before letting out a soft sigh. “You’re right...I need to stop worrying. I could meet him and he could be lovely. He could be the exact man I had been hoping to marry...if Ii go into this thinking negatively, then it will have a negative outcome.”

“So...invite her over to mine. Do it there.  Then she can get the fuck out and you can stay with me.”

“Well, we can pretend that it’s like on TV. Makes it all seem a bit more glamorous.” Nathan shook his head. “I have a hotel here...not that I’m complaining. The room I’ve got...man, you should see it. King-sized bedroom...huge living area...a dining room with a chandelier...even my houses aren’t that extravagant. But at the end of the day, all that matters to me is that my bed is comfy. If I’m working and travelling, I need a decent night sleep. I get pretty crabby when I’m tired.” Nathan found himself rambling - which was unusual. Usually he was the one making the girls ramble, not the other way around. “I go back to my hotel...have some food...and then, on a day like today, where I don’t have work tomorrow...I party. There’s always a club to go to, or a house party somewhere.”

“Just tell her you’re fed up of being treated like crap, and that you’re over. She’s had many chances to prove herself, and she hasn’t. So, it’s time to move on.”

“Psh, maybe once upon a time. But now you’re sounding like a broken record? Nah, instagram comes first.”
