My best friend when I was young could always pick me out of a crowd because "you have a distinctive walk!" We ended up at different schools in middle school & one day walking home a car pulled up next to me - & it was Molly! "I knew it was you, I knew it was you!" "How?" I was bundled up because it was cold. "'Cause of how you walk!" I told my mom that & she said I walk like a martial artist like the rest of the family. That's what's different. A coworker a few years ago said "it looks like you're always squaring up" as I walked up to the post-work group. "That's a 'Don't fuck with me' walk." & walking home with my hood up, it happened again today & it got me thinking about how I walk & how my body posture projects. It also makes me really curious to see how I walk without noticing I'm doing it, & 12 years later I still haven't gotten to see it like that for myself. Remember Spookies: You are Whole, all by yourself. Another person can never complete you, at the absolute best, they will compliment you & help you grow. 🌱🌱🌱 But you can & will grow without them, without anyone - & these are often the most valuable lessons you will learn about yourself & what you want in & out of your life. Don't fall into the trap of thinking that "If only I had a boyfriend/girlfriend, I'd be a better person!" or "I'm only worthy of love if I'm in a relationship!" because that's simply not true. This is also why you should never settle - in friendships, relationships, work, life, ANYTHING - never ever settle. I speak from experience: it's okay to let people go when they're no longer right for you. I recently removed an old acquaintance/former coworker from my life: he'd become a bad friend, we didn't talk, & he's become a bad person in general, at least in my life. He's served his purpose: he was a great coworker, he was an ear to listen about my exes, & occasionally a buzz. There's an old saying that really helps me in times like this: people will come in to your life for a Reason, a Season, or a Lifetime, & for the Reasons & Seasons, they'll go when their time is due, & it's your responsibility to yourself to let them go when they are no longer bringing you joy. My old friend was a Season, & after 5+ years, the Season is over & it's time to move on. Who in your life is it time to let go of? 🤝
