daichi.
She was one of the good ones. Of course, no matter the person, they would admit that Theo was a good person. That she was too good for anyone, especially for him. And yet… he had her and she had him. Wasn’t that something special. “Julien?” It took a while for the name to click and when it did, oh, he was not happy. His expression was a combination of anger and confusion. “He was there? How, why?” It didn’t make any sense but honestly, did anything in this city ever make sense? Absolutely not. God. “So he was there and he saved you… Was he there working for Xavier or what?”
“I didn’t get a lot of details. I think he was there just to protect the school for the battle…I’m not sure if there was anything else.” Nia left the moment she could, and hadn’t bothered to wake Julien to tell him so before she left. She wanted to, badly, wanted to interrogate him about why he was in New York, why he was at Xavier’s, why he’d left her. But seeing Daichi and confirming he was alright was her first priority. “I thought I was dreaming, when I first woke up and saw him. Or maybe that I actually died, but it was real.” Her voice broke on the last few words, and she swiped at her eyes. “Daichi, what do I do? He…” Made a fool of me. Hurt me. Abandoned me. “—disappeared, and now he’s here. I know we’re going back to Japan soon, but…” She looked up at Daichi, the only family she had, even if they weren’t connected by blood. They didn’t need to be, not after everything he’d done for her and all they’d been through together.
