Hey so I was a housekeeper at a nursing home..... I just want you to know it not just the nurses and doctors who have to mourn. It also housekeepers. We will hear the death rattle we will talk to residents they have so much to say.... So many stories they want to share. Sadly we also don't have time. It sticks with us or at least me. The stories of how they meet their wife or how they got their first car, their first date. If they don't like the smell of bleach we accommodate. We're also there. We listen. We care. We tell the nurses when a resident needs someone. I remember when I left my first job seeing a resident mortuary.... I felt I didn't deserve to mourn it sticks with us too. I haven't worked a job like that in a long time and it was never the residents fault why I left. They were so kind.
