The site I use has tabs for Hunger, Breast Cancer, Animals, Veterans, Autism, Alzheimer's, Diabetes, Literacy and Rainforest. 

All good and important causes but which do you think is the most important?  What order would you put them in? 

If we take facebook likes as a rating of importance today the order from most to least was Animals, Breast Cancer, Autism, Diabetes, Veterans, Rainforest, Hunger, Alzheimer's, Literacy. 

Does this surprise you?  Do you think the order should be different? 

Is God a meanie?  Does he allow bad things to happen?  Why does he not always answer prayer? 

Sheridan Voysey and his wife Merryn have these and other questions following ten years of unsuccessfully trying for a baby.  Emotionally worn out by numerous failed IVF cycles and having jumped through the hoops of the adoption process, they give up on the idea of children and decide to have an adventure.  This involves quitting their jobs, selling up and moving from Australia to Oxford, England.  Resurrection Year describes how they settle into a new life, cope with the weather and come to terms with the disappointment, beginning to find answers to their questions.

I really enjoyed the book.  Sheridan describes really well the dashed hope of a failed IVF and the pain and bewilderment of how to comfort an inconsolable wife who has always dreamed she will have children and is coming to terms that it might not happen.  And each time the questions they want to ask God become harder to ignore. 

The book covers a difficult subject in a very readable way and does not shy away from or gloss over the questions raised.  It is well worth a read.

It has got me thinking what would I have done in the same position?  Would I have stood up for what was right and against the occupation and helped those being mistreated by it?  Would I have joined with the Nazis?  Would I have got on with life as best I could and chosen not to see what I was uncomfortable with?  With hindsight and history written by the victors it can be easy to think I would have seen the what was right and done it.  But would I?
