Guys. The problem is not that Jax is written to be a bad person. The problem is that her being a bad person only creates conflict for a fraction of a moment before it's swept away, all is forgiven, and any potential friction between the characters vanishes.
The show cannot commit to how it frames her actions. Her berating/putting hands on Gangle, Ragatha and Pomni are portrayed as slapstick comedy in most scenes, but then the exact same actions will later be framed as a serious portrayal of abuse (i.e. Gangle admitting to Zooble that she's afraid of Jax). That's not nuance, that's dissonance.
There's no point in giving your characters flaws if they have no lasting impact on the narrative, beyond their own demises. Every single character forgives Jax in the end? Every single one feels the exact same way?? We couldn't even have a scenario where some characters forgive her and others don't, because that would not only be complex, but would make the most sense???
If Jax being an abuser only hurt herself in the long run, then what was the point of making her an abuser in the first place?

thats. not. the. point!!! jax's pronouns are not the point of my post. the point is that regardless of jax's identity, he/she should apologize and take accountability instead of everyone just feeling bad for him/her and the show trying to get us to feel sorry for him/her out of the blue. where did pronouns come from? genuinely i don't get people sometimes.

You can pair a canon lesbian and a canon gay man to the point of pregnancy and it will get thousands of likes, you can repeatedly sexualize the repulsed ace character, you can ship a victim with his rapist, or a racist crybaby with a black man that was sexually assaulted by exposure. People will always name thousands of excuses to make it valid. You can ship a coercive, racist, classist rapist with a brown-coded character (look at Barbie's human form) that is struggling to survive and whores himself out against his will to not lose his only source of income and is constantly gaslighted by the narrative and his abuser.
But god forbid you make any of the characters fat. Then all hell breaks loose. Somehow "excuses" aren't enough anymore. You're subjected to harrassment and dozens of comments.
This fucking fandom is so fucking performative in name of queer "wokeness" they circle right back 2000's mean girls as soon as a gram of fat hits a character (re-)design and disregarding canon representation that is extremely important to some individuals all in the name of "progressiveness" and shipping.

I was five years old when Sesame Street first aired in 1969. I remember coming home from kindergarten and watching the show in the afternoon, and then, the next day, kids talking about what Oscar had said over snack time (he was the first character for children I saw that was allowed to be grouchy and not be “bad”).
