I think itâs important that when Rumple physically puts himself between his Wish Realm self and the other four people in that room, those four people represent everything Rumple has ever done stupid betrayal shit for in the past.
Seriously, think about who those four people are.
Henry, âthe boy who will be his undoingâ, who long ago he swore to kill but never could quite do it because heâs his grandson, his last true link to the son who he took on all this darkness for in the first place.
Killian, the closest thing he ever had to a friend, the only living human who knew the man he was before, and who has been locked in a vengeance cycle with him ever since... but the Wish Realm version of him, who Rumple has truly become friends with, over a mutual respect.
Alice, the Guardian, who couldâve taken away all that immortality and power that he spent so long maintaining, who couldâve gotten him back to the woman he loved, but who he spared from taking on his curse so she could be with the woman she loved.
Robin, the daughter of the woman who killed his son, whose happiness he put above his own alongside Aliceâs.
The four people in that room, who he stands in front of, who he dies for, are representative of every single goddamn moment of weakness in Rumpleâs life. But he saves them. And in doing so, the universe rewards him.
