As I mentioned before, I fell behind on keeping the spreadsheets updated (but have been reblogging anything submitted/tagged with the blog) but now @deansrightfulangerissue is not only helping me with that, but is SUPER improving how it works - like, on the setup side for our end and some of the readability on your end!

(It’s Magic I tell you!) 

Anyway, I thought I’d bump and pin this particular post as it has all the relevant information currently - with not only a link to the MasterList itself, but another link to how to use the spreadsheets to search for things if you’re not already familiar with how they work - just allow the spreadsheet a little time to load up all the tabs and you’ll be good to go!

Remember that the Spreadsheets are always under construction as new events are added and some fall into inactivity. 

August 2026 is AU-gust here at the Prompt Foundry!

Alternate Universe takes on our favorite stories—be they shows or books we love, or tales of our creation—can be a delightfully fun way to explore what makes those stories tick, what makes those characters who they are, and what in them is important to why we enjoy them.

On the other side of the coin, some settings and scenerios are popular for AUs because there's something special about that environment or situation that really tickles our brains, and it can be fun to figure out how to fit different characters and their contexts into that world.

So let's run through the multiverse and play with some AUs!

Feel free to combine different days’ prompts with each other, or combine them with other events, like last year's March of the Blorbos! Draw, paint, sculpt, sing, write fiction, write poetry, write academic analysis—use your OCs, your favorite characters from media, your own experiences, whatever tickles your fancy.

What is Merlin Cinema?

It is a fest centred around movies, where participants can take any films listed on IMDB – new, old, short, feature, animated, etc. – and turn them into Merlin fanworks. Just like Reel Merlin.

How does this work?

Last year was fun, just as the previous years. But (there's a but!) since we are less mods, we'll try to do things differently, hoping you'll like it as much as we do!

Every participant randomly gets a song from the Circus Tour 2026 setlist assigned and uses that as inspiration to create fic, art, or whatever else takes their fancy.

What type of works is this challenge open to? Whatever you can post on AO3! Fanfic, fanart, edits, go wild.

Are there any requirements to the works? There are no minimum wordcount requirements for fic, or minimum requirements for art. If you want to write a drabble, go for it. If you want to draw stick figures, go for it. No generative AI allowed, only human creativity (I'll allow assistance from pets)

Timeline: 5th of July - 11th of July: Sign-ups 12th of July - 13th of July: Song assignments go out 13th of July - 13th of September: Creation time! 14th of September - 20th of September: Collection is open for posting

If so, come join the third round of the Destiel AU Reverse Big Bang!! We have 70 (yes, 70!) artists working on absolutely incredible AU ideas that will need writers (that's you!) who want to write a fic about them.

You might say...

But I've never done a reverse bang before and I don't know how it works.

No problem! You won't be the only newbie, so questions are expected and welcomed. The basic idea of a reverse bang is that writers claim art from an anonymous gallery to write a fic about. It's a great way to make friends. Still have questions about the format? Take a look at the rules!

But I don't know if I'll have time.

We have a very generous schedule to give you plenty of time to write and brainstorm with your artist about the world you're creating together. Check out the schedule here.

But what if my writing isn't good enough?

We're beating you over the head with a newspaper until the impostor syndrome gremlins go away.

But what if I change my mind about participating?

There's no obligation for you to claim an art piece if you happen to look at the gallery of works by our 70 (70!!) artists and see nothing that inspires your muse. In the meantime, you get to hang out on our event server, which we like to think is one of the most fun places in fandom. We have group reads of fics, unhinged SPN finale rants, channels for writing advice and sprints, and, best of all, a bracket-style tournament where we pit AU Deans and AU Cas's against each other to decide once and for all whether Muppet Cas is superior to Alpha Cas. (Yes, we're a very serious bunch.)

The 2027 round of the Dean/Cas Pinefest is officially open for registration!

Now entering its eleventh year, the DCPF is an annual big-bang style challenge for authors & artists in the Destiel corner of SPN fandom.

Since 2016, this little community has come together to share a staggering 11.6 million words of Destiel fic, and close to a thousand accompanying works of art. It’s truly a joy to see what everyone creates every year, and we can’t wait for this next round to begin!

Registration will remain open from now until October 25th for authors, with fic drafts & claims information due by November 29th.

Artists may continue to sign up until November 29th, and will have several days to peruse all available fics ahead of anonymous claims on December 6th.

After claims, author/artist teams will have roughly three months to complete their fics and artwork before posting commences on pi(e) day – March 14, 2027!
