Even though Alex had been deep in a book and not expecting JP, he returned the kiss gladly. “Survived another day at the cafe I see.” He joked, setting the book aside. He wanted to focus all of his attention on his boyfriend.

“Then we’ll make it happen.” Alex brushed an affectionate hand along JP’s jaw as he was kissed. Both of them were worried about different things but Alex was committed to this, to what he had with JP. It worked for them and that was all Alex needed to know.

Alex’s answer was swift and certain, with no hesitation. “Even then.” Sometimes Alex could almost forget that JP was sick but then something would remind him. Some might find it too much, but all it did was make him that much more appreciative of the time he did get with JP. He was special and Alex knew that. Nothing could replace him.

He nodded at JP’s question. “You got it, baby.” Carefully, he got to his feet and made his way through his apartment, cradling JP close like he had the most important thin in the world in his arms.

It was indeed cheesy, but it was hard to Alex to hide how much those simple words pleased him. It was nice to know that JP was thinking about him, even though he already knew that. Confirmation was good, in his book. “You’d better not die. Then I wouldn’t be able to hold you.” Alex said lightly but even the mere thought of JP dying was enough to make him hold his boyfriend a little closer.
