At last, they finally found that darn elevator.
With the Key Card in hand, Hannah was able to get the elevator door open for them to get in. That part was easy. Getting the heavily injured, 8ft tall croc upright in order for them to fit inside was the HARD part, taking all four a good moment before they finally managed to get him in.
Inside the elevator, the four would find themselves taking a breather, panting from all that heavy lifting. After she pressed the button to the uppermost floor, the elevator doors would close, and it trekked on up, lifting them slowly but (surprisingly) efficiently despite the damage that lab's been taking.
"....H.... my arms.... hurt......*phew* . s-so.... so tired...." Middle complained.
"....We're..... we're almost.... outta here..... gotta.... *phew* ....keep it up....." Peel was tired too, but he sure didn't want to stay around this crumbling lab as much as any other sane person would.
The trembles from the building worsened, yet the elevator carries on.
...In spite of everything they had to go through, was it really that easy of an escape all this time?
...No. Hannah knew that this wouldn't have been possible if it hadn't been for Bitter Fox's help. Not only from actually breaking them out of their cells and defeating most of the armed scientists and guards for them, but also for reasoning with her to keep on going and not give up so soon.
...... Hannah hoped that someday... She can both thank Bitter Fox for her help.... And also apologize for not being able to help her back enough.
The uppermost entry floor.
The elevator would open up to reveal the disaster that had been left. Dust and debris were everywhere, making it harder to see and navigate. Enough to censor most of the fallen from their sight, thankfully. But still, it's an unforeseen blessing in exchange for making their final bout of escape all the more difficult.
Also, there's a huge gaping hole between the elevator and the exit, so walking nor double-jumping across it wasn't an option, especially when you still have a large red crocodile to carry out.
"No.... w-we're so close....."
"I mean... it doesn't look so bad..." Oldest observed.
"Looks like we just gotta obby right over the stuff."
"Obby?? Like those obstacle courses Mr. Banana makes? B-but... I still haven't figured out how to double-jump...."
"It's really easy - just press the jump button twice!"
"That's what I don't get - what jump button??" She doesn't see a 'button' she should be able to recognize, even when she was first being taught about one of the obbies.
The building shook greatly. Even more debris fell around them, some piling over the others.
"We don't got a lot of time left to explain. Just... I dunno, imagine that button or something! Now let's GO!" Peel huffed, as the four got to lifting the Krookodile again. Second time lifting the beast wasn't any much easier, but as far as they knew, they still were on their own without any help...
Together, they just hoped that luck was still on their side as they made it out the elevator, and marched into the longest (but equally dangerous) 'obstacle course' that is the above-ground entry floor.
