When the guy who started it showed me the picture, I looked at her, then looked him dead in the eye and simply said, "She looks happy." And I was right! She had the biggest, sweetest smile on her face.

I was too lazy to go refill her water bowl at the sink and so I poured some of my spring water into her bowl and she lapped it up in like two seconds. From then on she won't drink tap water! I tried giving her only tap water yesterday and she didn't drink for a whole day so I relented and gave her bottled water this morning and she drank it perfectly 🤦‍♀️ It's Fiji water too- the most expensive kind. She won't even drink Dasani (although I do agree that Dasani water tastes like it's been inside a water gun all day LOL)

Do this OP, but let it sit overnight after you pour it into the bottle. Also if your Fiji water was refrigerated, then refrigerate the fake Fiji water. Letting it sit overnight will remove some of the chlorine smell.

their 1) relatively large clutch size + short hatching time, at least compared to total lifespan, 2) complex social structure based on relative class, 3) being a very VERY social species who is essentially a hive made up of smaller hives that walk and 4) not really having a genome the way earth animals do—ESSENTIALLY resulted in eridian cluster-tribes being like naked mole rat colonies on crack.

they obviously have a worldwide economy, academic and intellectual exchange, historical wars and allegiances and other forms of cultural crossover you'd expect in any intelligent social species, but for most eridian cultures 99.9% of culturally accepted marriages are within your cluster of origin. childrearing is communal, and while clutchmates are largely excluded as romantic partners, making them a close analog to the concept of human siblings, the equivalence doesn't extend to the "parents", who are largely regarded as just "members of the group who sired me". ie: two clutches laid by the same pair (or larger combination) of mates at different times are not culturally seen as "siblings". the result is that by human standards eridians are like. turbo inbred. very very little "genetic diversity" (as in, diversity in the lines of worker cells passed between generations) within the same group. they managed to get away with it on an evolutionary level since their bodies work more like a self sustaining ecosystem than a single animal keeping itself alive, which reduces the medical consequences dramatically.

still. life can only handle so much stagnation. which means that in many cultures, in order to reintroduce a little bit of biological diversity and forge bonds between clusters, there is the concept of A Guy who, every now and then, will grow up and hear nothing of finding a mate within their own group and will insist on leaving and travelling and finding a mate in a different cluster altogether instead. they're not shunned but they are seen as a bit of an oddball. oftentimes (if signs of this trait come up early enough in their upbringing), they will be raised to take on the roles of diplomats or representatives for their family and become a way to forge bonds across different eridian groups by marrying into them.
