How long did it take you to make this drawing?
A: without trying to set up, maybe a hour and a half? with set up- maybe 2 and a half hours.
What have you learned about drawing?
A: I really need to expand with my drawing style- It barely has changed besides slowly understanding anatomy and clothing folds more. A friend gave me constructive criticism saying the same thing so I know it’s not just me getting in my head.
What have you learned about yourself as an artist?
A: If I have a character I really like, chances are I’m going to draw them a lot. Like a lot a lot- Almost this entire year has me drawing one character- which is great but towards the end of this semester I’ve been trying to branch moreso off to other characters and not just focus on one.
What do you plan to continue to work on as you continue your journey as an artist?
A: A complete overhaul of my style- or rather a reconsideration. Of course baby steps so I’m boiling it down to it’s basics and redoing it. Plus I’d like to get better at drawing different body types, I feel like I’m constantly drawing only two types, muscular and slightly less muscular. Which frusterates me because not everyone’s bodies have that exact look, I’ve got to branch out more. Like more thin body types or plus size people! Plus I have to relearn how to draw women because I’ve been so focused on getting men down because a while back I realized I couldn’t draw them well and now I’m having the opposite problem.
But art is a journey and I’m more than down for the ride! Yes it can be annoying at times and have a lot of problems but it’s fun and it’s a way to express myself! I just wish I had more time to draw, life’s a little too busy at the moment, it’s hard to find time unfortunately. And judging from how my life’s going, I doubt that will be changing anytime soon. But it’s alright, just got to try a little harder!
