Yes yes this is exactly what happened. Shockwave was both like “I don’t care” and “I can’t not care”. The mech is a reminder both nice and painful.

For other people though It’s just a relic because the thing is fucking OLD by mecha standards and can you even find any fresh details for it? Uh oh. Repairing it is a struggle, working with it is a struggle, updating the software is huuuge pain in the ass just like when you have an old phone that can’t physically support new apps. Something is always incompatible, something is always glitching or dying and the repair budget is alright but you can’t really buy your way into fixing everything because it doesn’t matter how good your new shiny nails are if you’re hammering them into old wobbly wood.
