“Oh sweetie…” Elouise said as she wrapped Mia into her arms. “I’m not gonna lose it. I’m fine now. I’ve gone through therapy and I feel much better. I promise it’s gonna be okay.” She said and petted Mia’s long blonde hair. “Thank you Asriel, for everything.”

“You all look so happy, and that makes me happy.” She said as she hugged Mia once again. “Asriel would you be okay with me taking Joy and Mia back home now?”

Mia looked at her mother a little seriously for a moment “You aren’t gonna...You know...Lose it again, right?” she asked carefully, before swallowing and then looking at Asriel who shook his head carefully at Mia “Have faith Mia, it’s been a trying time and yes you can Elouise, of course. But please, call me if you do feel any struggle at all.”

“Of course I’m okay…” She sniffled and ran her hand over Mia’s long blonde hair. Before she knew it, she was tackled by a giggling Joy. She picked up her baby and kissed her on the cheek several times. “I’ve missed you guys so much..” She said sweetly, then looking over at Asriel. “Thank you..for keeping them safe while I was gone.”

“You really mean that? That you’ll be home more often? Because I would really appreciate that..” She said, trying to contain her excitement. “You’re going to judge me for my awful baking skills. I’m apologizing in advance.”

“Sure I will, I mean I have to have experience of all words” Mia said softly, before offering her mother a soft smile. “I won’t judge you, Holiday cookies are not meant to be perfect, as long as they are made with love and stuff.”

Elouise smiled, having no idea that her daughter actually worried about her. “Sometimes it can get a little lonely here with just Joy…you’re right.” She said with a small shrug. Her heart melted when Mia called her ‘mom’.  “I would love to decorate cookies with you.” Elouise smiled excitedly, never really having done them before.

“My friends name is Violet, and i’d love for you to meet her at some point.” She said with a smile similar to Mia’s. “Is there anything you’d like to do while you’re home? We can go see a movie, go to the park…anything you’d like. Maybe get our pictures taken with santa?” She said with a cute giggle

“I’d love to, I like that you’re making friends...I always worry it’s just you and Joy all the time. And I bet that can be lonely because she doesn’t talk...” Mia pointed out, looking to the pup who was stood trying to howl but they were more loud squeaks. “Santa?” Mia then laughed “I mean, what do you really wanna do? We could always do Holiday cookies, I used to do them with Shelby- but it’d be way cooler with my mom.”

“I bet you’ve learned a lot. Probably a lot more than I know.” She chuckled softly and kissed her daughters forehead. “Thank you sweetie. I’ve actually made a new friend and I think she’s bringing out some happiness in me. How have things been with your friends? Are they treating you nicely?”

“I doubt that, I mean you’ve been to school...You’ve got all your life experience. You’re the only one who knows how to be truly human, I know no one like that” she admitted. “Oh for real? That’s so cool, mom” she beamed. “Oh yeah, I mean they’ve been good. But it’s actually nice to just be home for a bit, you know?”

Elouise gave a small gasp when she was hugged by Mia. She was so happy that her daughter had decided to come hug her. She melted into the hug and squeezed her daughter lovingly and gently. “It is hard sweetie…Nothing worth having ever comes easy..”

“I agree with ya there. I mean I feel like I’ve learned alot in these past few months you know?” she smiled before pulling back to look up at her mother. “You look good though, glad you’ve been taking care of yourself.”

“I always knew you’d be someone special. Far more special than I.” She said with a proud smile, smoothing Mia’s hair. “I’m so proud of you. I’m sure you’ll become the best Ymbryne. I know it.”

“That’s not true, you’re special because you’re my mom. Being a mom is way special” Mia pointed out, before wrapping her arms around Elouise. “I don’t know, it all seems so hard, mom.”

“Is it good to make loops long? I’m sorry I don’t know much about your activities with Gigi…I don’t quite understand. Can you explain it to me?” She asked sweetly, tucking the hair behind Mia’s ear.

“Okay so like...I’m what they call an Ymbryne...I like, uh, I exist to help kids who have special abilities that are hunted by other creatures. We can make little time loops to hide in and the longer we can make them last the better it is. Gigi can make hers last a day and she resets it everyday at the exact same time so it never breaks down. I basically just act like a fancy Mary Poppins to kids who need me....”

“Well don’t let Gigi take you for so long…It’s too hard on me.” She said as she squeezed Mia once again. “I’m fine. Joy is fine. It’s just been really quiet without you around the house. How has training been going?”

“I don’t mean to, I guess I’m just new to this whole thing so I’m really bad at it” she sighed, then scooping up her little sister when the pup bounded over “Oh real good, I’m getting better at making loops. Managed to make one last twenty minutes...”

“More than excited!” Elouise said as she ran over to her daughter and scooped her up into a big hug. “I’ve missed you so much sweetheart.”

Mia hugged Elouise back and then pulled away smiling up at her “I missed you too, I didn’t mean to skip out on you for so long...Guess Gigi got carried away with the whole training of me.” she admitted “You been good?”

Elouise smiled as she reminisced about her mother. “I never thought you’d ask me about her…” She said with a proud smile. “Well she had beautiful long blonde hair, just like you. She was quite a rebel back in her days…and her name was Ruth.”

“Well, I’m a curious cat...Besides, learning more about your family teaches you more about your roots and person, right?” The little blonde mused. “She sounds really cool” the girl nodded.

“Because I remember my mom embarrassing me all the time.” She smiled and took another bite. “I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t following in her footsteps.” 

Mia laughed “Nah, I think you’re all good with it....” she waved off, picking at her fries “What was she like?...I mean...shes like my grandma after all, so I’m kinda curious.” she mused.
