I don't like the phrasing of this question because I disagree with treating groups of people like fandoms or teams that you "support" or "oppose." There are about 2 billion Muslims in the world - all separate thinking individuals with diverse personalities, viewpoints, cultural backgrounds, lived experiences, and relationships to faith. For example Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, the crown prince of Saudi Arabia, Ali Hosseini Khamenei, the dictator of Iran, Mohammed S. Dajani Daoudi a Palestinian peace activist, Alaa Waheeb, an Israeli Major in the IDF, Mithal al-Alusi, an Iraqi politician, Ilhan Omar, a U.S. congresswoman, and Yahya Ibrahim Hassan Sinwar, the recently assassinated leader of the terrorist organization Hamas...are all Muslims. But they are also very different people.

I also disagree with referring to Muslims as a regime. There are theocratic Islamist regimes - for example in Iran or Saudi Arabia - but Muslims as a whole are not a single unit or government. I don't support any type of theocracy so I will never support any Islamist regimes because I believe governments should be secular. I'm not against those regimes specifically because they are Muslim. I am against them because they are repressive and do not represent universal values I believe in such as freedom of religion. The same is true for any type of theocracy.

But to answer what I think you are asking, I am certainly against islamophobia and believe Muslims must have the right to dignity and religious freedom. Criticism of a regime like the Iranian dictatorship is not the same as criticism of all Muslim people in the world. Iran claims to speak for Islam (just as many of the terrorist orgs they probably back do) but that is not true.

Hello, I’d like to share a request for mutual aid on behalf of a close friend of mine in Tehran, an incredible artist who’s had a really rough year.

In short, after surviving the horrors of war and the bombardment of a fuel depot by her house, she realized she could no longer put off transitioning. After starting the process she is facing immense pressure from her abusive family. With the help of people like you, she was able to move into an art studio and start working again, with the goal to move out asap. However, she needs help with materials for her work and with meeting her daily needs. She would also like to start laser hair removal and continue her medical and legal transition, which is not without cost.

As the war flares up once more, I am worried we might lose communication again. I would like to raise $500 to make sure she is at least financially secure for a few months.
