I’m sorry that you’ve been having these experiences and that you feel like you have to stay on anon. That sounds exhausting and frustrating 💕 I have to admit, I’m so far removed from the Q+AL-side of the fandom, I had no idea antisemitism is a problem there. That’s just vile and horrible.

Some fans apparently feel the need to elevate their favourite by looking down on the other members of the band, by berating other fans for the fic they choose to write or the art the create. To me, this kind of behaviour is completely baffling. We all have our favs and our special interests and ways of doing fandom - there’s really no reason to put others down for for doing it differently.

Personally though, while I’ve had my fair share of bad interactions, I have never felt like I’m alone in my appreciation of all four band members (albeit to varying degrees), or in my shipping or research interests. There are lots of awesome people in this fandom!

The only advice I can give you is to carefully curate your own fandom experience. There are tons of Brian and John and Roger centric blogs on tumblr. There are many Freddie fans who appreciate the other band members’ contributions. Unfollow people who drain you and give you negative vibes. If you write fic, enable comment moderation. Ask around for Discords that might be a good fit for you. Decide which battles to pick. And take a break from all this madness once in a while 😉 

Additionally, I’ve had the pleasure of seeing Q+AL live, and I enjoyed that experience immensely. I’ll never be able to see the original Queen. I think it’s nice that Brian and Roger have found someone that they trust to sing these songs night after night, and honestly, why shouldn’t they get to keep touring? Freddie recorded all those vocals for Made in Heaven because he wanted the band the keep going, he wanted fans to keep getting to hear new music, at least for a little while. I can’t speak for Freddie, but I think he’d be happy to see his friends carrying on and honoring his legend the best way that they can, by continuing to play that music, and by making sure he is never forgotten.
