I’ve been pondering 2P POV and why it can be so effective. I think at face value 2P seems like “You the Reader are the Character and the narration tells you what you’re doing” But actually the craft of 2P POV is that You is the Character. And the Reader is the narration, informing the Character “this is what you do. This is what happens to you.” Which is why it’s so particularly effective at two things:
A) a character that the reader doesn’t know that well—either a bit part or an OC, etc.
B) for scenarios where the POV character is having some kind of distress/out of body experience. Where one would go outside themselves and feel they’re telling their body what to do.

right so reportedly we got the karaoke scene in the movie because ryan gosling overheard sandra hüller singing to herself in some downtime on set and approached the directors to say "if we have her here and don't ask her to sing in the movie then we're insane," so the scene was hastily planned and recorded during the last day they had with that set; stratt grew up singing in an east german youth choir because hüller did, too. a fun meta textual wrinkle this adds is that gosling is also a singer but grace doesn't take a turn with the mic, so you can read the scene not just as stratt saying "I am a full human being, I just can't be for this project, you get to see it for two minutes before I turn it off again" but additionally "you could be doing this exact same thing but you aren't even willing to give us two minutes." his doomed work friend the trained choral singer, his fated bestie the being who communicates only through song, his world-saving probes named for the most famous musicians ever, his choir-based soundtrack underpinning all his actions, and his unwillingness to sing himself.
"ryan gosling can sing?" yeah mate! he had a band, la la land was a musical, he had that song in the barbie movie, and I think there was a lot of singing involved in being a mouseketeer but idk I'm ten years too young to have ever seen any of that. I'm quite partial to this clip from lars and the real girl because that is some very good control and support for someone lying on their back with their legs propped up. if you haven't seen the movie then don't even worry about the life sized doll btw she's great she works as a hairdresser.
i'll do you one better: rygos self-published this album at age 20 (meaning he likely wrote and recorded these songs at 18/19 or even younger) and it is effectively lost media. you can find "put me in the car" and "wake" and a couple other self-written songs floating around on youtube (i have them as my alarms) but afaik this never got a full physical or digital release anywhere. as a bonus, here are some lyrics to "put me in the car" that eerily mirror grace's character arc:
