Another thing is while not interacting and avoiding critical blogs is very very valid, some people do enjoy criticizing the media they're into. I know enough people some of them love and others hate a show and both criticize it, but only one of these groups enjoys criticizing that show. Looking at their blogs you can't really tell which ones is enjoying themselves and which ones don't. The only reason I know is because I personally know those people. So yes some are in a hateclub but others aren't and I don't think we should forget that some people enjoy that. Another reason I think tagging is important.

(I'll say again that disliking these blogs and avoiding them is completely fine. I do that too depending on the fandom)

I didn't say anything about people not tagging their posts with the tag, just that I personally will disregard what they said if the takes are coming from people who're part of a hatedom community. And on Tumblr, this tends to be a lot of individuals.

Like, I don't mind hearing people out about their issues with my fave shows. But Tumblr isn't where I go to do that. Reddit's a better place for these sorts of conversations:

Specifically, subreddits that aren't dedicated to hating a character. R/Thatstupidbunnywehate is certainly not the best place to go if you're looking for nuanced takes on Jax.

Regarding the salt/critical tags and the blogs... Maybe not everyone who uses these tags/makes critical blogs hops on the "let's resort to personally attacking the creator" bandwagon, but it's hard distinguish them from the hatedom crowd when they're not speaking up against the people who do stuff like this:

The worst thing about these blogs is how they use them to archive Rachel Smythe's old art while tagging these posts with the their tags...

ULO is the Lore Olympus hatedom's subreddit.

They collect her deleted art to make fun of it, and no one calls them out.
