THE GREATEST AROUND

   If he had a ‘sona, it’d be the blue sky. If you can imagine the Blue Sky personified, that would be Greta! A lust for life like no other, a man who won’t stay down. He’ll always be there for you, cheering you on and believing in you. He knows that you can do better, always. No, not in a patronizing, goading way! In a “We should all be striving to be better than we were yesterday” way!

   He’s silly, he has a very distinct voice, and he swears sometimes. He’s not a child, he’s kid-like at times but he’s an adult! He is excited all the time about something. Greta loves so strongly, and though his relationships never worked out, he’s found that the best kind of relationship is friendship. He thinks himself to be THE GREATEST FRIEND! He’s never hated anyone, even those he’s fallen out with. He wishes them the best, even if he never talks to them again.

   A bit of a hopeless romantic at one point in his life, Greta is now a hopeless platonic!!! He really strives to make friends all around and spend as much time as possible with them in all kinds of ways. He’s seemed to have made a few enemies just from being his excitable, positive self, but it doesn’t get him down. For every rude person out there, five kinder people take their place!

   Greta is intensely active–he loves waking up early, he loves jogging and pushing himself to the limits. He loves gardening, looking after his pet snake Buttons’, he loves playing his guitar and singing his figurative lungs out!!! Dancing, writing, exercising, knitting… Greta is a man who, upon learning something new, will do his best to absorb every part of it! He’s never been bored in his life. How can you be bored in a world where there’s so much happening all the time? If there’s one word that summarizes Greta, it’s STAMINA.

   He can be a bit critical at times–but it’s not personal. He struggles with filters and sometimes will just say exactly what he’s thinking. However, Greta always means well and though he has often tripped over his tongue, he tends to try to make up for it. Fiercely competitive, this skeleton will never back down from any challenge. He once drank Undyne under the table during a New Year’s Eve party! He was intensely hungover after the fact, but he proudly brags about the event to nearly everyone he meets. Speaking of competitive, Greta loves driving fast–if there’s no one around or it’s an empty stretch of highway, this madman will drive at breakneck speeds in his hot rod red car!! He has terrified Fell friends of his with his sheer mad way of driving! The sharpest left and right turns, screeching tires and hot rubber, the G forces strong enough to make anybody bite their tongue almost off! And he’s never been in an accident. How does he DO it?

   Why does he go by Greta? He used to go by “Greatest” or “Great” due to his original URL, which was thegreatestfriend. However, one day, a Sans he met typo’d his name as “Greta” and it was history from there! (You can bet I do a double take every time I read the name Greta anywhere.)

   Why does he have snake-like features? Well, back in 2016, there was an event called Little Soul, where Greta and a lost purple soul accidentally fused. He grew snake-like features and became much more powerful–but rather than use his newfound power for anything spectacular, he was more concerned about the Soul. It turns out, it was a little girl who had recently passed on–but her Perseverance kept her from moving onto the next life. She’d been intensely lonely in the hospital, and wanted nothing more than to make a friend. This led her to find the Greatest one she could– Greta began to do all he could to put her at peace. He’d read to her, sing to her, cradled this little Soul as if she were his child. He named her Iris and grew immensely attached to her.

   One day, she had to leave. She’d finally made a true friend, and all her loneliness evaporated. She finally felt ready to pass on. Greta wept and wept for such a long time, but, it was for the best. It seemed as though his snake-like features had disappeared, but by the end of the year, it turns out… he had just been hiding them. (In various arts I drew, I had placed a very very thin line on the middle of his jaw bone, to show that it could actually split–but it was an easter egg for the truly perceptive!)

   Though the Purple Soul had passed on, Greta retained the abilities of the Perseverance Soul. This allows him to access both Gravity Magic and Karma Magic. Greta’s fight style is bouncy, energetic and involves dodging Musical Note shaped Bones! Let’s get them shaking!
