SPACE, the shiniest place

thinking about how “shanebug” could have been baby shane’s nickname from david and yuna. specifically thinking’s about fat baby shane who is now fat toddler shane and is obsessed with bugs and loves toddling around with a little antenna headband on, and for halloween insisted on being dressed up as a ladybug!!! and he was so excited about the costume he kept wanting to wear it every day everywhere all the time!! years and years later shanebug has been mostly retired as a nickname (though a teary-eyed david definitely hugged him tight and said “so proud of you shanebug” when shane was drafted, and yuna whispered a “oh my poor little shanebug” while running her fingers through shane’s hair as he slept in his hospital bed after his broken collarbone and concussion.) but one day ilya and shane are over at the hollander family home and the photo albums are out and this one is of shane in his peak shanebug era and ilya looks at the photos of a happy sleepy toddler shane, freckles just starting to appear on his face, in his ladybug costume after halloween clutching his little trick or treat pumpkin filled with candy and cries at how cute he is. he then proceeds to call shane his ladybug in russian and kiss him all over his face while shane laughs and the name joins his list of pet names he uses on shane

Pregnant Shane angst where he's getting to the point he can hardly do anything without Ilya's help and it's absolutely crushing him. Ilya is such a natural care taker and he's a happy camper getting to love on and take care of Shane, and Shane likes being doted on but he hates that he doesn't have a choice. He can't clean himself properly anymore, he can't get out of a sitting or laying down position, sometimes he gets so sick he can only eat if Ilya helps him with his portions and timing when he takes bites. One day ilya sees online about the people lifting their partners belly so they can have a second without the weight and he does it to Shane while he's desperately attempting to do laundry (he insisted he didn't need Ilyas help and he's already upset cause he absolutely does). And the second he does it Shane takes a beat and Ilya sees relief on his face like he hasn't seen in months and almost immediately after that the relief turns into big tears and sudden sobs. Ilya worries for a moment he's hurt Shane or something but he thinks about the fact Shane has had to deal with all this for nine months alone. No matter how much Ilya helps or loves on him he can't take away the constant pain and discomfort he's in. He really doesn't know how Shanes done it considering how sensitive to discomfort he is. So he still holds him and just lets him cry , gently swaying them side to side and cooing soft affirmations at him. It's almost like a prayer being heard though cause hardly a week later baby is born a bit before her due date
