Women, poor people, people of color, people with disabilities, we have been pitted against each other and made to feel like there are limited seats at the table for those of us who fall into the category of ‘other.’ As a result, we have been afraid of one another. We compete with one another. We judge one another. Sometimes, we betray one another. Sometimes, within our community, we designate who among us is best suited to represent us and who really shouldn’t even be invited to the party.

Many Hair Colors

It shouldn’t be that crazy for a girl to be in a band. I think girls have a really different point of view, obviously, than guys when we write lyrics or when we write music. But I think girls are so strong and girls can play music and guitars and drums and sing just as  l o u d  or as  w e l l  as the  b o y s.

Everyone in town always took me for an outsider. I didn’t care. The only thing that mattered was her. She was my garden of Eden, and God knows how beautiful it was until that night. No, no one is born evil, the Devil himself was a fallen angel. But sometimes, when you go through hell, the only way out is to walk deeper into the fire.
