@the-aristocats firstly, great job being observant and great question! It’s always very important to be aware of the plants growing in or around a rabbit’s outdoor enclosure. From my own research, the foxtail plants have not been identified as being toxic to rabbits, but the physical damage created by the seeds can be problematic. Burrs of any kind can get trapped in the hair, cause trauma to the skin, and sometimes the mouth of the rabbit when it tries to remove the seeds themselves through grooming. This creates the potential for infections/abscesses and is painful, which could put a rabbit off their feed (leading to issues like GI stasis). I would advise carefully removing the plants from your yard while attempting not to dislodge any existing seeds. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the info!! I just pulled all of them up anyway before you answered. I’ll be sure to keep my yard super clean of any weeds or foxtails.
