faq
*when i say better, i mean more ethically sourced, not more accurate. i don't really care if google translate is more accurate than me, i don't constantly waste millions every day on ai
q: how do i submit something for translation
a: the ask button. says smth like "submit here".
q: what am i allowed to submit
a: literally anything, as long as it's in a language with publicly available resources. if i can't find enough about the language, i will not use it/translate from it. if you're not sure how easy resources are to find, feel free to link the ones you know about in the submission.
q: how often do you post translations
a: every monday at noon pst. or pdt. maybe idk how scheduling works. why monday? bc i hate monday.
q: do you actually speak (language)
a: probably not. my native language is english, i've done 3 years of spanish classes, and i have some self-study experience with russian, japanese, korean, latin, and high valyrian (a conlang).
q: if you don't speak the language how do you translate
a: most real world languages have some kind of dictionary source. i supplement that with wiktionary, and whatever grammar resources i can find.
q: i found an error in your translation, how do i beat you with hammers over it
a: please don't. i would absolutely like to learn, though! if you find an error, you can just put it in comments or a rb, or you can dm me directly. long as you're not pretentious or condescending or otherwise mean about it, i'd love to learn something new about a language!
q: i want to find translations in/out of (language), how do i do that
a: every post is tagged with both relevant languages, as well as "from (language)" and "into (language)". there's also a more specific tag if you want one specific language into another specific language. if a language requires transliteration or romanization, there's a tag for that, as well.
