Ones and Zeros(Slight vent)
Seeing Sky in its raw form feels quite odd.
Where you would see beautiful landscapes and echos of a distant civilization, behind it there are codes, 3D models and PNG images all working together to make it happen.
I didnāt really feel it until I started this little side quest of extracting stuff from the game. Seeing it all separated as assets made me lose the emersion for a bit. While I still played the game both normally and with the mod, the experience felt different.
Now I could see where what asset was used in what scene and unintentionally keep reminding myself this is all ones and zeros. Making me feel distant and detached while playing it.
For a while, I felt disheartened at the realization I might not be able to look at Sky the same way again. Although Sky isnāt the biggest part of my life, it was still crushing to see a game I played for four and a half years and have great fondness for, just reduced to a piece of data on my phone.
But I still found myself playing. Not because of some fancy cosmetic or fantastic event, or even the hidden lore still yet to be discovered. It was the people who I met on this game and remained a wonderful part of my life.
Friends who are willing to tag along while listening to my words
Fantastic artists who bring color to this community with a stroke of a pen
Storytellers who can weave words together to bring structure to the world
Guides who help out newcomers a hand without expecting anything in return
Explorers who dive into the unknown to just for the sake of adventure
And everyone else who would offer a kind word at the chat table or a hug when you need one.
All this and more rekindled my love for this game and its residents. And reminding me that Sky itās not just another piece of data, but is now a long time adventure that has become a part of me.
There might be different reasons why people play. But for me, itās everyone here that keeps the game alive and breathing.
So, I just wanted to say,
Thank you for being a great part of my experience in Sky!
