When I draw, I usually circle between fantasy, medieval or modern settings for my whumpees.

I've also seen lots of whump content set in sci-fi environments but I've been wondering if there are others I'm missing. 

I tend to do content that are in my comfort zone but sometimes I like to look outside of it to get some inspiration. 

westerns / desert settings

polar regions / taiga / snowy steppe

heavily industrial areas, like shipyards or manufacturing plants

middle of the ocean (bonus points if it's on a boat rather than an island)

jungle

farmland

underground / mines / cave systems

above the tree line in the mountains

swamps / marshes

literally anywhere that isn't America/Europe. I'd kill to see a whump series set in Africa!! the more specific the better!

on that note: whump set in South America! in Southeast Asia! in the Pacific Islands!

Appalachian Mountains

in the vertical mountains of China (think Tsingy de Bemaraha, or Zhangjiajie), in any era of your choosing

a lighthouse / fire watch station

a logging road in the middle of nowhere / a ranger's station that's closed down for the season

the Atacama Desert (there are a bunch of massive, remote astronomical telescopes up there that have some of the best views of the night sky in the entire world—in part because it's so cold, arid, and isolated)

My two main whump series are set in 1200 BCE in the Syrian Desert / North Africa (The Jackal of An-Nadr), and in a surveillance-heavy cyberpunk dystopia (In Resonance).
